Olympéa Flora by Rabanne

I have a massive collection but always come back to this. It’s fruity and juicy; initially, you get the blackcurrant and sorbet with that incredibly rich acidic touch, then minutes later the peony becomes more prominent than the rose. Every time I wear it, I receive compliments. It lasts and projects quite well on my skin. Highly recommended!

I was pleasantly surprised. It came as a free gift in a promotion along with the Olympea Solar, which was what I wanted, but I ended up loving it even more. At first on my skin, it sounded like Angel Nova, but then the acidic fruit note disappeared and a wonderful fruity rose unfolded. It exceeded my expectations.

Pleasantly surprised! It’s a beauty for me. It lasted an incredibly long time; I applied it at 1:30 PM on a quiet winter day and could still smell it the next day. It lingers on clothes terribly (I washed the garment, it dried, and the scent remained). Very happy with this fragrance.

I don’t know much about notes, but it’s an acquired taste; at first, it can be overwhelming and strong, but then you become addicted to the scent. It’s powdery roses, like the makeup we used to wear when we were girls, with that typical youthful twist. It’s very fruity, like a juice of strong (not ripe) fruits, mixed with rose and a touch of tobacco—that dry freshness of shampoo or soap. I’m wearing it in full July in Argentina and have fallen in love with it; it could be a good signature scent.

It’s incredible how it can be a flanker of LVEB, very similar. It was a blind purchase and, naturally, I didn’t like it due to the patchouli, which I thought wouldn’t be so invasive. I also detect something alcoholic, perhaps that’s why it’s linked to LNT. My sister said it smelled like an older lady’s perfume; if I translate that, it’s elegant, floral, and of a dated style. It has very little projection and trail for an EDP, and I don’t think it lasted three hours on me. It’s only worth it if you like the mentioned aromas and find it at a very good price.

Like the Sun, I picked it up cheap during Hot Sale and tried it without knowing what it was. I had no expectations. For me, it’s a dupe of Kriska Drama: it starts sparkly, fruity, and juicy with a sharp, mentholated twist, which is why it reminds me of Kriska. Then a rose emerges, making it more mature and elegant. It smells lovely, but be warned: I don’t recommend buying blindly because that patchouli evokes equal parts love and hate 🤣

It doesn’t smell like Angel Nova as one might think, but rather of woods and roses, like a relaxed version of the Rabanne XS Black for women.

I got it very cheap during Hot Sale, so I didn’t have high hopes. However, it pleasantly surprised me, especially considering the bad reviews about its longevity. My skin is tricky: perfumes others say last all day, like Good Girl, last only three hours on me. In contrast, this Olympea Flora has had excellent performance. I applied it to my wrist at 6:30 PM and it was still detectable at skin level at 3:30 AM. On my skin, it’s a blend of vanilla and roses, with a sparkling, feminine, and luminous opening. The trail is light to moderate, but the longevity was more than satisfactory.

I’ve had it for almost a month and wore it to my daughter’s gymnastics gala yesterday. I applied several sprays and it lasted perfectly for the three hours the event went on. I love the scent, but I think the name EDP Intense undersells it, as it doesn’t project or last like a true intense fragrance. If someone comes close or greets you, they’ll smell it, but it’s not a beast that leaves a heavy trail. I hope it matures and becomes truly intense and long-lasting. I’ll choose it for Christmas dinner because it’s a beautiful scent and, thinking about it, it’s not bad that it’s not a bomb; as long as it’s enjoyable for oneself, that matters. As I said, I used it once and haven’t received compliments yet, but its scent is sexy, fruity, and sweet (nothing new, but very well done).

It’s a delight: a fruity, sweet floral. I bought it when I was learning to drive and fell in love with designer fragrances again. This one drove me crazy just smelling it, but I chose it for its moderate sillage—nothing overwhelming. Being floral and fruity, it’s a perfect balance for any occasion, even sharing a car for half an hour. I identify so much with it that I bought it again: it’s my first designer repurchase. I hope they don’t discontinue it; it’s exquisite, youthful, feminine, and ideal for everyday wear. The bottle is lovely and lasts an 8/10. Projection is 8/10 with a measured, appropriate sillage. It joined my fragrance collection very recently. I agree with some reviews: the blackcurrant opening gives me more the vibe of a juicy, tropical fruit, like papaya or mango; it could be passion fruit too, I suppose it’s the mix of sorbet and cranberries that creates that impression. At that point, it reminds me a bit of Nuit Tresor, with those fruits and patchouli. I also agree that it has a quite mentholated heart phase, at least on my skin. The rose and peony aren’t fresh flowers here, but have very fruity nuances. The fragrance becomes sweeter and sweeter due to the vanilla and patchouli. I don’t sense the salt at all. I tried it only once to comment on longevity, but initially, I didn’t feel it was as long-lasting and strong; it comes out very strong and drops in intensity quickly. I still need to test it for longer to see how it performs. I see it as an all-year scent, except for peak summer heat, unless at night. It’s a sweet, fruity, rich, feminine scent but nothing new. It separates itself completely from the earlier Olympeas, just like Blossom and Solar. I don’t recommend buying blindly.

It’s the younger brother of my beloved Olympéa Blossom. While Blossom is a beast distinct from the normal Olympéa, this Flora hits almost the same spot. The difference is that Blossom is subtle and refined throughout, whereas Flora is heavier; its opening is super fruity and becomes cloying to the point of LVEB. The change is that in Blossom the notes sit in the heart and evolve to leave cashmere and a salty touch, but in Flora you’re stuck with the sweet fruity vibe and it gets tiresome. The longevity is brutal: over 10 hours projecting and clinging to the skin all day. If you like sweet scents, this is yours compared to Blossom; if you want something special and less sweet, choose the original. It hurts that houses, with a thousand options, go for the safe route by creating flankers of their favourites and end up making a flanker of a flanker, just like many LVEB fragrances.

It’s nothing like the original: it smells of blackcurrants, rose, and patchouli, with a salty touch when dry and an exaggerated optimism. It doesn’t resemble any of the ones I mentioned above (and most of them I don’t like anyway). This Olympea isn’t so sweet or commercial, perhaps for that reason I liked it. Don’t buy blindly if you’re looking for a powerful, groundbreaking flanker like the others or the original.

It just arrived and the truth is I expected more. I know it’s not for every taste, but with predecessors like the original, Intense, or Legend, which are masterpieces… Flora is a lovely fruity aroma with rose, but it already has plenty of competition.
