Ladies and gentlemen, or rather, ladies: this smells like Byredo’s Bibliotèque. One day a niche store gifted me three decants, including the original. I loved it instantly, but I didn’t want to spend $400. So I sought out the only Arab copy on the market and was convinced. It imitates the original quite well from start to finish. Although I’m a man, I recognise it leans more feminine, yet I adore it. It smells sweet, intoxicating, musky, delicate, and has good longevity and projection (I applied a lot and nearly fainted). It’s an interesting scent that breaks gender moulds. Don’t buy it blindly; it could be too cloying for some. If you’re looking for something ‘alpha male’, this isn’t it. It’s intoxicating, addictive and sexy; on a woman, it would be very seductive.

It’s literally plum liqueur in perfume form. At first, it smells of fermented fruit, like wine or liqueur, due to the mix of plum, peach and leather. Then the plum dominates like a juice, while the leather gives it body. It’s unisex: the fruits might seem feminine, but the leather makes it masculine.

The opening is very boozy: the blend of plums, peach and leather gives the sensation of fermented fruit, but not in a bad way, rather charged like a fruit wine or liqueur. Then the plum is present as fruit juice and the leather gives it body. Honestly, I don’t think it’s for women: it’s totally unisex. Although the fruity notes might make you think it’s feminine, the leather note pulls it towards a more masculine side.
It reminds me of Rihanna’s ROGUE, but the antelope or leather note just doesn’t suit me at all.
For me, it’s similar to Rihanna’s Rogue, and I simply hate the antelope or leather note…
