  1. Another gem from Demachy for Dior: in 2008 they launched three Elixirs, and here we have the darkest version of Midnight Poison. It’s a powerhouse of earthy, androgynous patchouli, though it loses that camphorated touch of the original thanks to the caramel and vanilla, which lend it a light sweetness. That ambered patchouli blended with the sinister, almost withered rose mixes with these gourmand ingredients, resulting in something dense, intense and thick-textured.

  2. I bought it last year as I’m addicted to Dior’s Elixirs, but it was a fiasco on my skin: it smells super masculine, packed with patchouli and the vanilla is almost imperceptible. It’s a wonderful perfume and I love it on paper, but I don’t know what happened with my chemistry. The other Poisons are unisex, but I think a man would wear this without any issues. Like the other two Elixirs, it’s hard to find nowadays. What a shame.
