  Yes, I liked it. At first I felt it a bit fresher than the classic. On I Love NY I felt a dense note that didn’t convince me at all. Here, this flanker of a flanker has convinced me more. Although… over time it is the classic 212 VIP Black but less dark. Projection and longevity are moderate. I recommend it for a younger audience, 7/10.

  It literally smells as if you open a bag of unsalted sunflower seeds and smell what is inside. If you want to attract hamsters, this is your perfume.

  It is an animal profile fragrance; at first it vibrates in a wild and natural way, reminding me of the smell in some areas of the zoo (where there are lions, giraffes, elephants), quite strong in the first half hour. Then, after an hour and a half on the skin, it settles too much and only smells of leather men’s perfume, without highlighting other notes, although on a sunny day it will emit a leather scent. I see it for use over 30 years old, with seriousness, 100% at night or in very cold climates.

  To me, it is a contradictory perfume: at first it smells fresh, with those herbal and absinthe notes that are very noticeable. As @gentbries says, when it dries there is a moment where it literally smells like a bag of sunflower seeds. The good part begins afterwards, when the leather comes to the fore and it becomes a bit more animal and serious, one of those perfumes with a dense leather note (for me, something positive). I see it as perfect for a young profile (20-24 years) on a date or formal occasion; it works very well at close range and without much movement. In my mind I see a fit young man, in a serious black suit but without hiding that youthful side. In my opinion it is a 7.5/10, but knowing where to use it it can easily become a 9/10.

  Carolina Herrera 212 VIP Black NY Rodeo is aromatic and leathery; the leather is noticeable from the very first moment. It retains the line’s DNA but is less sweet and fresher. Over time it relaxes slightly, though the leathery accord remains, elevated subtly by aromatic notes and a touch of vetiver. Despite the leather, I see it for three seasons: spring, autumn and winter, suitable for day and night, for the office or as a signature scent. The longevity has been good, up to 10 hours, with a regular and present trail. This version moves away from the line’s usual sweetness, giving it a more mature air. At times it reminded me of Tom Ford’s Ombre Leather. It is not one to buy blind, so try it and form your own opinion.
