I haven’t smelled this fragrance yet, but it is shocking to me that there are so many detractors of this Nathalie Lorson fragrance.
It was a blind buy; I went along with YouTuber recommendations. Mistake, because it is very unpleasant on me, super synthetic, and gives me an allergy. In Chile there’s a dessert called pie de limón and Sweet Pastry is that, with normal sugar meringue and not the floral kind. I think the cane sugar note doesn’t work for me. I would like to feel more vanilla to make it feel more balanced. The longevity on skin in autumn is 2-3 hours. The opening is very potent and almost smells like air freshener. It was $27.990; it’s cheap, but there are better options for that amount. I definitely do not recommend buying it blindly. This is my experience, and I’m sure it must suit some and smell exquisite on their skin. Unfortunately, it didn’t work for me.
Lemon, sugar, and vanilla, just three notes, but it doesn’t need anything more. Zara’s great surprise when you want to go through life smelling like a lemon cake. It’s a gourmand at a scandalous price. Although it has lemon, I don’t recommend it for very hot days; it can become overwhelming.
I arrived late to the hype for this fragrance. I found out a couple of months ago (I rarely go to Zara) and it was already out of stock; it’s a 2020 edition. Finally, I found one from a girl who sold me a tester. I don’t understand the bad reviews. Of course, it isn’t sophisticated, elegant, or captivating; it’s simply a straightforward gourmand with a lemon dessert scent. The opening has a hint of synthetic lemon; it reminds me of those candies, ice creams, and radioactive green meringues, but it’s not unpleasant. The dry-down is simply delicious: it smells like freshly baked vanilla cookies and makes me drool. It’s very pleasant. I’ve worn it to sleep and feel wrapped in warmth and happiness. I hope I can use it more when it gets cold.
Zara A Sweet Pastry In Paris. I got it in an online order along with other perfumes (I have an unboxing on my Instagram, sorry for the spam). It was a blind buy that I don’t regret in the slightest; even my partner uses it as one of their favourites. It’s a gourmand that starts with a sweet, almost candied lemon, which is pleasant. There’s an initial citrus burst, but soon it spirals into unending sweetness. Quickly, sugar and vanilla join the lemon, forming an accord that reminds me hugely of crushed Marie biscuits as a tart base. As others say, you can appreciate the three declared notes, but for me the magic is in the combination. I associate it with a cold lemon tart with a biscuit base sold at Mercadona. I loved it for the quality, the presentation, and its ability to evoke that Parisian patisserie. My girlfriend is delighted; it amazes her, although she uses it warily because it makes her crave that tart. I wear it when I’m at home. It’s a fragrance for cold weather, for daytime, and for casual occasions. I find it more feminine than masculine, but I recommend it to everyone who wants to try it; it’s a great experience for gourmand lovers. On my skin it lasts about 10 hours with good sillage for the first two hours, then drops but remains pleasant close to the skin. I think if it were intimate from the start, it would gain points, as it invites closeness. If you want to see more content, check out my YouTube channel: Perfúmate Con JL.
I bought it during last year’s boom and couldn’t handle it. The first time I wore it at night, I felt like it was strangling me. I tried again but we didn’t click because it is too synthetic; it smells like burnt plastic or old medicine. I ended up using it as an air freshener in a jar of Mikados, but you have to be careful because it can become overwhelming.
It has a massive hype, but to me it still literally smells like Autan. I have a full bottle and I’m going to use it as an air freshener or mosquito repellent this summer.
If anyone wants to sell me one in Mexico, I would be extremely grateful.
The opening is horrible: synthetic lemon that smells like cheap air freshener. However, I wanted to try it on my skin because I read the lemon disappears as it dries, leaving a rich gourmand vanilla, and that is true; it smells like cookies. But it’s not worth enduring an hour of synthetic, unpleasant lemon just to get there, especially because that pleasant phase has no projection and stays close to the skin. That said, some people adore it, so you don’t lose anything by trying it; it’s a 50/50 gamble.
I searched high and low for this perfume and finally managed to get a tester. The opening is citrusy, potent, and very revitalising, but after 15 minutes it settles into a sweet lemon and vanilla blend that is pure bliss, just like smelling a lemon pie or some lemon shortbread. I love it so much I already need a refill; I really hope Zara relaunches it! After four hours, only a baked vanilla scent remains. I already own Lira by Casamorati, and although they are both gourmand vanillas with similar accords, they develop differently: Lira starts with a tender orange and finishes with caramel, cinnamon, and liquorice, whereas this Zara scent opens with a sharp lime and ends in a sugared vanilla that melts into the skin. Owning both isn’t redundant. Be aware, the accords are quite synthetic, almost like car air fresheners, but it doesn’t bother me; if you love sweet gourmand scents, buy it, but don’t buy blindly if you don’t.
LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO SELL ME ONE!! In Mexico…
It smells incredible, I have it for sale as a dupe for 100 pesos for 30ml in case anyone is interested, it is exactly the same as Zara, it smells deliciously delicious.
Look for the Paris scent dupe in Mexico, it is identical and delicious.
Lemon pie. Extremely sweet, you want to eat it.
It is a powerful lemon scent in the opening; after a few minutes it smells like a super rich and sugary lemon Piruetas cookie… I liked it very much but I will have to remove it from my collection, so if anyone is interested send me a message in CDMX please.
It smells like the packets from the supermarket to make lemon jelly, it is a very synthetic smell. I had seen many reviews saying it was like a roll but I only feel artificially sweet lemon.🥲
A sweet and warm fragrance of lemon cookies or biscuits 🍋. I can imagine walking into a French patisserie and being hit by that scent that tries to go unnoticed but cannot help but stand out. A Sweet Pastry in Paris is not a bomb projection/longevity perfume, but it is one that is enveloping and makes you feel the warmth of a hug. My nose strongly perceives vanilla cookies and a sweet lemon cream, similar to Piruetas biscuits. It also takes me back to my childhood, cooking desserts to lift my mood, the common taste with my boyfriend for lemon biscuits (he loves it when I wear this fragrance), and being sick and having my mum give me some Piruetas. Once I wore it for preschool classes and my students told me I smelled of ‘love’. What a beautiful definition for a perfume so special to me. A Sweet Pastry in Paris is not a perfume you should buy blindly, especially if you do not like gourmand scents or expect a queen fragrance. A Sweet Pastry in Paris is a princess who resigned from the crown to live peacefully in the flower fields baking cakes in her cabin to leave the throne to her sister, Devotion.
Wearing this fragrance, people would say ‘um… you smell very sweet, like milk with a vanilla touch’. It is a charming and gourmand fragrance that combines very subtle citrus notes with the sweetness of sugarcane and the warmth of vanilla. This perfume is ideal for women who enjoy cosy and delicious scents, but without an overpowering smell. It is a sweet scent but very, very subtle. It evokes the feeling of being in a cosy Parisian patisserie, making it an excellent choice for those seeking a fragrance that wraps you in a warm and delicious aura.
REVIEW OF THE 2025 VERSION *** I cannot compare it directly to the 2020 version as I owned it at the time but finished it a couple of years ago. Nevertheless, here are my impressions based on my olfactory memory. It remains a vanilla cake scent with lemon zest, delicious and exquisite. I do find this new version more citrusy and acidic than the original, especially in the opening, and in the dry down it feels slightly less sweet and above all less dense. Perhaps that is why its performance, at least on my skin, is worse than I remember. This perfume now lasts around 5-6 hours on me, but the last 2-3 hours are almost skin-scent only, with a projection that is quite moderate to soft practically from the start. On clothes it lasts better. I remember the original lasting a good 6 hours fully with a projection that was also wider. Perhaps it is a matter of waiting for it to mature. In summary: I was very delighted to be able to rediscover the scent, which I find very similar though with nuances, and although I consider the performance to be worse than I remember… for the price it continues to be worth it. Do not compare it to Lira, Bake, or anything similar, as that would not be fair. Anyway, it is better that they brought this back than nothing.
Smells as if a fly has landed on a lemon tart and someone has sprayed insecticide over it.
The 2025 edition is a disaster. It starts with a critical note, a hint of cookie or cake that faintly reminded me of Lush’s Chelsea Morning. But within two minutes, it turns into a mess, with a rancid coconut base, ending up smelling incredibly artificial and medicinal. Do not waste your money on this absolute rubbish.
I’m glad it’s back. It can’t be compared to ‘Devotion’ because that one came first; this is simpler. It has a medicinal citrus peel opening that fades to reveal a super indulgent lemon tart dessert. Since writing this review, I’ve been using it drop by drop so it doesn’t run out, and it improves with time, especially regarding longevity. I also use it in layering to sweeten other fragrances. It’s good to have a replacement.
I think it’s the most delicious perfume I’ve worn in a long time (2025 version). It’s lactonic, lemon cream without the citrus, and a hint of vanilla ice cream 🍦, incredibly addictive for gourmand noses. It’s not for everyone; it offers no novelty and isn’t trend-driven, so if you’re looking for something very fashionable, it will fall short due to its simplicity, but one must stop amidst so many trends and appreciate that it brings wellbeing, like smelling a freshly baked tart and those moments of peace at home. Outdoors, it catches attention. People are used to the Red Temptation, Gardenia, and Fields at Nightfall from Zara, which are dupes of wonderful but very mass-market perfumes.
A Sweet Pastry in Paris 🗼. One of the most hyped perfumes on social media. Opens with a mouthful of lemonade and feels a bit strange, like lemon ice cream with too much zest. Then it sweetens in a fluffy, airy way, like a cloud of sweets dissolving on the tongue, similar to a lemon and cream lollipop. When dry, it’s sweet, creamy, and vanilla-infused, like a lemon filling in vanilla biscuits. People compare it to ‘Devotion’, but to me they are distant cousins. They share lemon and vanilla, but you could even layer them together and they would be perfect. ‘Devotion’ is more like a sponge cake 🥧, while ‘Sweet Pastry’ is more like a sweet cream filling 🍋. Note: it needs maceration and gets prettier and longer-lasting every day.
Very disappointed… I don’t know how they dare compare this to ‘Devotion’; they have nothing in common. The Zara one literally smells like insecticide or citronella; I can’t find anything pleasant about it. It’s not gourmand; I don’t smell sugar or vanilla. Don’t let anyone’s opinions influence you and try it before buying; that way you save yourself disappointments like mine. I have many Zara perfumes I adore, but this is the worst I’ve tried from the house.
I’d heard so much about this perfume that I bought it without trying. Blind buys usually don’t work out for me, so I was prepared for a disappointment. And nothing could be further from the truth. The hype and mystique are justified and deserved. If I say it smells like a lemon-scented sponge cake, that’s not new, but besides that, it doesn’t smell like perfume; it smells like food. I’ve smelled it many times when making a sponge cake with lemon essence; it smells like the unbaked dough. It’s beyond gourmand; it’s directly edible. I’m sorry I can’t wear it to work, because I’ll give my colleagues diabetes. And if it’s not diabetes, it’s hunger.
Bought it blind being a fan of gourmand scents and the hype was incredible, but it’s hugely overrated. To me, it doesn’t smell like a lemon tart or a bakery. At first, the lemon is harsh, like mosquito repellent, but it lasts only ten seconds. Then the scent is more pleasant from a distance, but up close it smells strange, nothing gourmand. It reminds me of playdough or weird plastic. I wouldn’t risk buying it blind.
Whenever I saw on YouTube that this Zara perfume was disappearing, my heart would break and I’d think: why didn’t I start this obsession when it was born? I resigned myself to never having it. Well, recently I saw it in the catalogue and it was a resurrection! I ordered it immediately and picked it up just a couple of hours ago. I sprayed it half an hour ago and wow, how beautiful! It smells like exquisite lemon biscuits, like the ‘Emperador’ ones from Mexico, especially the lemon ones. It’s a tart and sweet dessert, not cloying. No regrets!
Bought it blind and although I’ve only worn it for two days, I absolutely love it. If you enjoy sweet scents, this is for you. It reminds me of those independent lemon biscuits, like Elgorriaga or Cuetara. People compare it to ‘Devotion’ for the sweet lemon, but to me, the Zara version seems simpler with fewer ingredients, whereas the D&G one feels more sophisticated. You can have both. The projection isn’t overwhelming; you don’t smell it from afar. It lasts six or seven hours on the wrist, I think longer than ‘Devotion’. I’m happy with it: it’s for everyday wear, not overpowering, suitable for almost anything, and I didn’t spend a fortune.
Bought this blind back in February and was initially disappointed by how quickly it evaporated, but after letting it mature for a month, what a difference! It now lasts six hours and is simply gorgeous. Smells like vanilla and lemon baked pastries, just like ‘Pastry in Paris’. Although ‘Devotion’ has a similar vibe, this one smells like panettone to me; my nose and my wallet have chosen this one. Off to buy another bottle 😁
Very realistic lemon pie. I perceive meringue, lemon juice, condensed milk, and cake batter. In the first days I didn’t stop receiving compliments. A very good base for layering with Devotion or Lemon Tart. How good that it’s available again u.u
I bought it blindly and we’re still getting to know each other. The first day I was surprised by the longevity, which is rare for me, but I’m not convinced that the citrus fades too quickly and only that ‘yoghurt cake’ aroma remains, as my daughter said, eternal and linear. I need to give it more time to see how it evolves with maceration. It’s pleasant, pretty, and has great longevity on clothes until you wash the garment. But I’m still not convinced about going through life smelling like yoghurt cake!! 😄
I don’t understand the hype. It’s a want and can’t have situation. A strident lemon opening that disappears quickly, leaving a very poor quality vanilla. The phases don’t fit; it’s as if they don’t mix. Synthetic to the max, nothing to do with Devotion or my Lira. This time it’s a ‘no’ for Zara. Edit: almost four months later I retract my opinion. I left it stored, giving up on it, and today I’m giving it another chance. It has matured and has turned directly into Devotion. It still isn’t my favourite, but finally it can be worn.
The Ziaja Lemon Cake exfoliant smells exactly like this fragrance, so if you like that product, this perfume is ideal to maintain that lemon cake scent. I understand it’s peculiar and not for everyone, but I love the mix of citrus with the sweetness of sugar and vanilla. Ideal if you like sweet scents but don’t dare use them in summer because of the heat.
Delicious to me; it literally smells like a lemon dessert, a cake, a bakery 😋 The lemon note is sharp at first, then dries out and the vanilla emerges, like a little cake with gummy candies in milk and sugar and lemon zest. It lasts about two hours on my skin, but I love it.
It’s delightful. It does remind me of Devotion, although the latter has a floral part that makes it more feminine, which the Zara version lacks. Totally unisex.
To me, it’s an extremely synthetic and simple perfume. Straight out of the bottle, it smells like floor cleaner or a cleaning product, then a very synthetic and linear vanilla appears. I don’t smell any lemon cake or anything that reminds me of Devotion. I didn’t like it at all.
I have Devotion in one hand and this in the other, and they smell the same; however, the Zara version is much more potent, lasts longer, and costs a fifth of the price. The choice is clear.
Smells very sweet; reminds me of Devotion. It’s that lemon cake scent, rich, but be careful not to overdo it or you’ll want to pull your nose hairs out. It can be heavy, but I’m a lover of sweet things.
Beautiful, but it needs time to mature. At first it’s fine, but over the days it becomes more intense and warm, like a freshly baked cake on a spring afternoon.
