  I own both Brume d’hivern and Etoile D’or. The one I like most is Brume, but the one that receives the most compliments is Etoile. Ambre de Siam is for cold days and evenings. At work, it comes across as quite intrusive, especially during the first couple of hours. It’s hard to say it isn’t my ideal fragrance as it carries patchouli, my favourite ingredient, but still… there’s something that doesn’t quite sit right with me.

  Ambre de Siam caught me off guard; it has nothing to do with what the name suggests. It’s amber-y, but for me, it’s mostly wood and spices. The top notes of ginger and citrus gradually become creamy. The heart reminds me a great deal of Loewe’s 001: very creamy, spiced sandalwood and patchouli. Where Loewe uses cardamom, this one features ginger, plus a balsamic, slightly smoky touch from the frankincense or benzoin, yet it still sounds like the Loewe scent. It’s unisex, perfect for everyday wear thanks to its certain freshness and moderate projection. Scent: 8.5 Longevity: 8 Projection: 6 Value for money: 5 Versatility: 9 Originality: 7 Overall: 8
