  • A fragrance with the FK seal. The emulation of sun, beach and sea is very well achieved, the message is strong and clear. The opening is sublime: the citrus notes are clear and defined, adding vitality in the first third. The transition to the heart is brilliant, the sweetness and delicacy of Ylang Ylang (Channel N5) overlap. This powdery sweetness combines with the neroli. The dry-down is simple and harmonious, the woods take ownership of this charming journey. I’ve really liked the versatility, potency and delicacy of this Aqua Vitae Forte.

  • Under the spicy woody family, hides this fresh and citrus fragrance, very versatile and unisex. The opening is radiant and luminous, pleasant, with citrus in the foreground and spices supporting, a sun-on-skin effect. Soon come the florals: a soft bitter orange blossom that embraces the ylang, which here doesn’t feel heavy. Then it installs a soft body cream scent. As usual, Kurkdjian adds his personal touch (a bit strange and out of place), and the effect disappears quickly. The dry-down is very lasting, sandalwood and a lovely light, airy vetiver are felt well. To finish, a pleasant powdery musk with a skin effect. Overall I’ve liked it, better than the normal Aqua Vitae and than Apom. I find it easy to use as a fresh Eau de Toilette for daily wear (if you don’t like intrusive fragrances) and for hot seasons. Good quality, very good longevity and soft trail, correct execution. Rating: 6

  • The official price is disproportionate, but I suspected that before trying it. The juice is very good, although the perfumer exploits the same chords over and over without hesitation. Unlike Chanel, here you can hear all the notes of the pyramid, perhaps except the woods at the end, especially the vetiver, which for me never really becomes woody; I suppose they hold up the ylang, which is the main actor and I like it almost always. The opening is good with real citrus; shortly after, the neroli appears in the Kurdi style, which many people remember as something sticky or human saliva (I share both views). Perhaps what I like least, I prefer a more floral neroli than the bud scent, although the stickiness is a matter of taste. Cardamom, pink pepper and cinnamon are noticeable for a while, at lower intensity than the flowers. It produced a curious sensation in me: fresh at first, warm and hot at the end, I don’t know if due to the test temperature. Like with the ylang, sometimes it gives a bronzer or tropical perfume sensation. The performance is good, it’s not a bomb that eclipses everything, but it will be smelled for quite a few hours.

  • I like it. Opens citrus-spicy with lemon, cinnamon and pink pepper standing out. In the mid-stage it becomes floral with Ylang-Ylang as the protagonist, secondary bitter orange blossom and cinnamon in the background. Dry-down with sandalwood and a touch of vetiver. I’ve liked it quite a bit, but I see it as more feminine than masculine. Ideal for spring and autumn, during the day. Longevity is lasting, trail is moderate.

  • I tried it once blind, courtesy of a decant from my mate @uhm. My verdict is mixed: the opening didn’t quite convince me, but the dry-down is a real favourite. Citrus notes rarely smell natural to me, and here the bergamot and lemon feel forced, sharp and gritty; others may enjoy it, but that’s my take. Midway through, it shifts to floral; I can’t pick out the ylang-ylang as I’m unfamiliar with its true scent, having only noticed it in much sweeter, syrupier perfumes. I also don’t detect the orange blossom initially, just a somewhat indistinct floral bouquet. By the final dry-down, the orange blossom becomes unmistakable. The citrus remains noticeable but less forced and more subtle. I also detect a sandalwood that gives body to the florals and citrus. This phase feels more feminine, ironically the part I like best. After checking the notes, I must admit I struggle to appreciate the spices, even knowing what they are. Performance is excellent; I can wear it for hours without any issues. Suitable for any weather, and as I said, the dry-down is more feminine than the opening. Not much more to add: I believe it’s a fragrance that evolves from less to more, with great performance but also a high price tag (as always, highly subjective).

  • I tried it once thanks to a decant from my mate @uhm, blind. I have mixed feelings. The opening didn’t suit me, but the dry-down did. For me, citrus doesn’t smell natural: I detected forced bergamot and lemon, sharp and rough. In the mid-stage it becomes floral. I don’t notice the ylang (I don’t know its real scent, I only perceive it as sweet in other perfumes), nor the neroli at first, just an undefined floral bouquet. Once dried, it clearly smells of neroli; the citrus remains but more subtly. I detect a sandalwood that gives body to the flowers. This phase is more feminine and is what I like most. The spices are hard for me to appreciate even knowing what they are. The performance is brutal, I can smell it for hours without issues. It suits any weather, the dry-down is more feminine. I think it goes from less to more in scent, great longevity but also a high price (subjective).

Citrusy, sugary and bright; the cinnamon drives it forward without overpowering. It’s a scent I hadn’t smelled before. A creamy sandalwood joins in and everything stays very linear. Incredible quality, as is everything from this brand, unisex. The cardamom is there too, you only notice it once it settles.

  • I bought the discovery set in summer and tried it once before the atomiser fell off (and my room smelled of AVF for a week). The opening is creamy, ylang and cinnamon with lemon; by the hour it smells like classic neroli from the 90s with pepper and sandalwood. The dry-down is very woody and blends into the skin as if it were my own scent. I was surprised that a citrus could last the next day in the heat of Barcelona. It’s unisex, pleasant and has a certain pedigree without being formal. I tried it in August and found it heavy, better suited to mild days. For the price, it’s not super special, but its spicy touch sets it apart from summer colognes. Pleasant: 6/10 Interesting: 6/10 Versatile: 8/10 Original: 7/10
