Captcha 36 by Emper

Captcha 36 is a fragrance that doesn’t try to fall into the territory of “smelling good” in the traditional way, rather I find it quite bold for the affordable fragrance market, being quite minimalist, modern, and unisex in a quite interesting neutral way. My first impression with this fragrance was that, of the four in the Emper discovery set, it would be the one that would catch my attention the least, since my mistake was basing it on the smell on blotter paper and on the bottle cap, where for some reason an almondy, seedy and retro cosmetic cream character predominates, but I was completely wrong. The first spray was like entering a quite imaginative world, leading one to think what a juicy mandarin in the middle of snow or inside a fluffy light cloud would be like, don’t think of an astringent or sour mandarin, rather a sweet one, even resembling that pectin jelly that usually forms in the centre of these, combined with something whitish, airy and modern. After the first minutes (at 10) the floral component is quite noticeable, I perceive it as quite white and clean, it reminds me of a bouquet of freshly watered white flowers, combined with the clean feeling like powdery make-up or a shirt drying in the sun. This is the part I liked most and although I would have preferred the citrus part to predominate, I think this is where what is striking about Captcha 36 comes through at its best, it’s entering a dreamlike garden where only being comfortable and feeling freshly showered matters. Finally in the dry down I understand the comforting aspect of musk, which is sweetened with vanilla and tonka bean, however this phase is very subtle, you have to smell it close to the skin. Captcha 36 doesn’t stand out for having great projection or lasting sillage, just like longevity which is quite brief in my opinion, it’s perfect as a fragrance for staying at home, for indoor places or simply for a more relaxed or focused mood. It’s quite versatile and I’m curious to use it in colder conditions, in heat I doubt it will be cloying. In short, the weak points of this fragrance don’t matter when it’s this bold.

I hope I’m not mistaken, but the first impression I’ve had with this fragrance is that it’s a white floral variant of its sister “Stallion 53” (the latter more oriented towards woody). It’s a unisex fragrance, but it competes in the same category of fragrances like “Reserve” by Perry Ellis, in the sense that even though floral, they can be worn by men. One of those rara avis fragrances we sometimes find. As previous reviews have already said: only buy if you’ve tried it before, not recommended as a blind buy.

A delight of a white floral perfume. It opens with mandarin and white flowers, it’s a clean and delicate perfume, it transmits peace. For my taste it’s feminine. It’s not a commercial perfume and it’s not a blind buy. Longevity approx 5 hours Moderate projection (personal bubble) Spring and Summer I recommend it for those who don’t need compliments to feel good haha

It’s good, I recommend it as a daily fragrance even for any time of day or something casual, I’d say it smells as if you’d just showered with a perfumed shampoo for women but that doesn’t make it any less masculine, I had a few comments saying it smelt very clean and citrusy Note that it lasts a long time on clothing I sprayed it on a jacket and the next day when I wanted to wear it it still smelt of the perfume

Watch out, I’m not mistaken: this is the white floral version of its sibling ‘Stallion 53’, leaning more towards woody notes. It’s unisex, yet competes in the same league as Perry Ellis’s ‘Reserve’; in other words, despite being floral, men wear it without issue. It’s one of those rare finds that occasionally surface. As previous reviewers say: only buy if you’ve tested it first; it’s not for blind buying.

It lasts about five hours with moderate projection (personal bubble). Ideal for spring and summer. I recommend it for those who don’t need compliments to feel good, haha.
