I totally agree with Cristian! There is no oakmoss; it’s a sweet, fruity chypre with amber and musk that evokes American perfumery from the 80s and 90s. Potent, complex, and full of nuances, like White Diamonds or Escape, which smell of the American Dream and luxury department stores. Catalist is that: a powerful, intrusive perfume from a bygone era, now a little dated. I tried it in a shop where the owner, Macarena, gave it to me because it’s discontinued, and I love old scents. It’s an ‘explosive broth’ of flowers and fruits: gardenias, hyacinths, carnations, neroli, orange blossom, and peach, with a touch of soft bergamot, vanilla, deep cedar, amber, and musk. Upon drying, oakmoss mixed with patchouli emerges, though it’s not listed on the note sheet. It lacks a clear evolution; it’s baroque, with chiaroscuro effects, slightly vinegar-y, sweet, woody, green, and floral. It has a strong unisex charge in the dry-down. It leaves a monstrous trail, but paradoxically doesn’t last long: 3 or 4 hours, being outrageous for the first two and then fading gently.

I have it… Smells like a glamorous, very harmonious girl. Nothing extraordinary, but exactly right for its low price. I bought it blindly for work and it exceeded my expectations. Excellent purchase.

I’m surprised there’s no oakmoss in the notes. It feels quite chypre at first, with lots of carnation, cedar, and bergamot. I don’t notice that floral and fruity sweetness it should have.
