DKNY Be Extra Delicious by Donna Karan

I tried it at the centre two years ago and went absolutely mad; it smelled of caramel popcorn, but on my skin it lasted a mere breath and let me down. However, I found it again, sprayed it all over my neck, and gave it another chance. What a surprise! It lasted for hours, and now I own it and love it. It has something special; it’s a total hit: fruity with that caramel touch, not cloying, or at least I don’t feel it as sweet and heavy as others. It’s youthful, yet anyone can wear it; there’s no age for scents. Take a risk!

It’s another Donna Karan fragrance. It smells fresh, less cloying than many, but it still feels synthetic. Although they say it resembles Fantasy, it has nothing to do with it; they are completely different scents.

In the shop, my face betrayed that I didn’t like it instantly. The sales assistant said I didn’t like it, and we laughed. It smells like a fragrance made to please, uncomplicated. To me, at first, it smelled of children’s toothpaste, not the galactic gels or chewing gums, but the old, thick pink Odolito from my childhood, with an artificial fruit taste, strawberry or liquorice, always pink and medicinal. I dislike the strawberry and liquorice note, which smells dubious and artificial, like syrup, typical of 2000s teenage perfumes.

Exquisite perfume, extremely fruity and sweet. When I first heard it, it was instant infatuation. It’s not very strong, but it has moderate longevity on my skin.

If you’re thinking of buying it, bear in mind that this is 100% sweet and warm caramel. If you’re going to try it, wait a bit to see its evolution: at first, there’s a slightly fresh floral tone, and although there is caramel, as it develops, that note becomes the protagonist. Although it’s versatile, I wouldn’t wear it in hot climates because the sweetness could become annoying. 8/10

Sweet perfume, medium longevity; it reminds me of Britney Spears’ Fantasy at times. It’s rich if you like sweet perfumes but not cloying ones. I would buy it again.

Top fragrance. The original Be Delicious is my favourite, but I never tried another until I was gifted Be Extra for Christmas, what a surprise. Now that it’s summer, I love that it holds up well against the heat and humidity, even smelling faintly the next day. It’s sweet, like cotton candy, but not overpowering, very subtle and embracing. The fruits are there but in a softer way, reminding me of a more moderate Pink Sugar. I don’t want to get too attached, I know it might be a limited edition and I always fall in love with fragrances that later disappear. I haven’t mixed it with the original yet, but I don’t see it as necessary; I already love it as is.

I identify it as gourmand. At first, it smells strong, almost like a perfume that’s gone off, but within minutes it changes and the fruity notes become apparent; over time it becomes increasingly sweet, with caramel very prominent. The fun part is that it’s designed to mix with DNKY Be Delicious and the result is gorgeous: it becomes slightly more citrusy and balances perfectly. The packaging itself even suggests you can mix it.

A super sweet perfume! It’s very cheerful and fruity; sometimes I feel it’s almost childish. I’m sure they didn’t declare the melon note, but on my skin it smells of sweet, juicy melon. The longevity is a bit weak, but I have no problem reapplying. To be honest, I wore it in summer and it felt a bit cloying, so I’ve saved it for when the weather gets cooler.

On first spray, it smells strongly of papaya, pleasant but intense, then settles into something fresh and sweet. I wore it in summer with the sun, but it lasted nothing; far too sweet for that heat. I’ll keep it for autumn or winter, where it will shine on its own, which I adore for cold weather. The trail is moderate; in summer it vanished quickly, but in winter perhaps five hours if applied generously. Fingers crossed they don’t discontinue it, as it’s a limited edition.

Fresh, sweet and youthful, ideal for everyday wear. I wanted to mix it with the original Be Delicious (green apple), but that one doesn’t grab me. It reminds me a bit of Zara’s Wonder Rose as they share notes, but if I have to choose, I’d stick with WR: it’s cheaper and projects much more on my skin.
