I tried it a million times just because of the bottle’s colour, but I should have known I wouldn’t like it. Someone gifted it to me months ago, and when I forgot about the scent, I foolishly tried it again. I won’t be doing that anymore; it makes my stomach turn. Evitorial Twist is lavender with an oily base, far from the cool, sweet, anise-flavoured and refreshing lavenders I adore, which make me want to take a nap in a freshly made bed. Here, the lavender smells like Raid moth traps: camphoraceous, unpleasant, and like a punch of radioactive camphor in the winter cupboard. Then it evolves into a little tube of Vicks with sweet expectorant menthol, but soon returns to being overcooked, hot lavender. If it contains cardamom or ginger, my nose doesn’t notice them; they seem microwaved, leaving a greasy mess like a melting clip in the sun. It smells just like those fake glycerine cigarettes or coffee capsules that taste of sugary foam rather than real coffee. This perfume has that plastic aftertaste of trying to mimic nature without succeeding.
I’ve tested this over and over again from the bottle, yet I should know by now that it simply won’t suit me. Evitorial Twist is lavender with an oily body, far from those cool, sweet, anise-flavoured, refreshing lavenders I adore and which make me want to nap in a freshly made bed. Here, the lavender smells like Raid moth traps: camphoraceous, unpleasant, and like a direct punch to the winter wardrobe. It then evolves into a tube of Vicks with sweet, expectorant mint, but soon reverts to overcooked, hot lavender. If it contains cardamom or ginger, my nose doesn’t detect them; they seem microwaved, leaving a greasy mess like a melted clip left in the sun. It smells just like those glycerine fake cigarettes or coffee capsules that taste of sugary foam rather than real coffee. It has that spiced, oily, greasy accord of La Nuit de l’Homme, followed by an ambroxan dry-down like Invictus or Sauvage. As I’m not a fan of either of those scents, I completely skip it. It lasts well and leaves a nice trail, which seems to be the trend these days.
