Bestial potency; a sealed decant made my room smell of him for weeks. It doesn’t smell of pure coffee, but rather that McDonald’s breakfast from the morning: pancakes and boiling maple syrup. It’s delicious, but beware: it’s not wearable in public. You’ll have everyone smelling of breakfast for months.
Absolute realism: it smells like a freshly opened bag of coffee or a straight black Americano. If you’re handed it with your eyes closed, no one would know it’s a perfume. Projection is enormous and lasts until you shower; steam reactivates it. People say, ‘Smells rich, like coffee’ or ‘Like chocolate’. Wear it in intense cold; it’s not versatile, but at the right moment it makes you look brilliant. As a collector, it’s a gem: the best coffee I’ve heard in perfumery. Highly recommended.
Did someone say coffee? It’s by John Pegg. I remember his videos with the cat and the bloopers; they’re gone now, what a shame. Follow smells of ground beans, literally, with the same scent and texture. It’s hyper-realistic, intense, with a light vanilla base. Linear, strong projection and good longevity. Unisex. I like it but find it incomplete: it only smells of beans, with no nuances or development. For me, it’s not a perfume, it’s a brutal scent that bores me. The 100ml bottle will last you a lifetime. Tempting to layer it with something sweet, vanilla or tobacco. Be careful, it stains clothes just like coffee. An impressive artistic offering, but incomplete to my taste.
If you’re looking for unisex, high quality and intense coffee with great projection and longevity, try Follow. It opens with very potent roasted beans, then the vanilla and maple add creaminess, making it sweet and balanced. It makes me want to smell coffee with coffee ice cream, a unique and wonderful experience in cold weather, especially at night, where it provides warmth and comfort. Don’t buy it blindly because it’s a different aroma, with no comparison to other coffees. Would I buy it again? Yes.
