Harmonious by Boadicea the Victorious

A clear improvement on the classic DHP. Here, the iris feels tamed and more wearable, lifted by a citrus and spicy opening that prevents it from being so heady or creamy. As it dries, a touch of licorice and a subtle suede note round off the fragrance. The final phase is less iris and more woody with a hint of sweetness, featuring recognisable sandalwood; at this stage, I prefer this version. An addictive scent with a sublime trail, excellent performance and projection, lasting over eight hours. Unisex and functional all year round, except in extreme heat. The absurd price is the only real drawback. Elegant, formal and distinctive. Top.

I feel this Boadicea is a pre-2025 DHP, but polished and more harmonious. The original always seemed excessive to me, with notes that didn’t quite convince, but this time Harmonious has made me reconsider that DNA which previously didn’t click. Perhaps it is because it is more versatile or easier to wear; simply, I have liked it quite a lot. I acknowledge that the DHP is a masterpiece, but personally, I would choose to wear this Harmonious.

Boadicea the Victorious Harmonious is exactly that: pure harmony. From the opening to the dry down, everything is so balanced it’s hard to pinpoint a single protagonist. Each stage is a smooth, elegant transition, with nuances shifting from apricot tones to noble woods and a polished iris, not powdery. It’s not a clone of Dior Homme Parfum nor does it try to be. Yet, for those who love Demachy’s jewel, it offers a niche alternative that stands up to the original, something no cheap clone has achieved, including the aforementioned Gary’s Den Fomo. It retains the sophistication and character of Dior Homme but takes it a step further: more versatile, rich in nuance, with beast-mode longevity and projection without losing elegance. It’s for those seeking distinction without stridency, a complete, refined, and satisfying experience. A worthy heir to the Dior Homme style, but with its own throne.

Spoiler: a Dior Homme Parfum pre-2025 will be mentioned more often than Boadicea’s Harmonious. My verdict: the opening is the best, featuring a background iris, sweet orange, and a boozy touch that gives it personality compared to the original. It lasts around 30-40 minutes. Afterwards, the citrus and alcohol fade, drying down into a blatant copy of the pre-2025 decaffeinated DHP. Don’t mind the term: in the dry-down, I detect no depth or nuances of the original; it becomes more airy and light. DHP is watching TV in 8K, while Harmonious is 1080p. On my skin, it lacks the improved performance, quality, and elegance I’ve read about. It’s a “almost but not quite”, a “want but can’t have”. In short, it’s a lighter, more versatile version of pre-2025 DHP with an original opening. Does it smell good? Of course! Since it’s a copy of pre-2025 DHP. As long as you can find it, I recommend DHP over Harmonious. PS: pity that the bottles are pretty but the caps are cheap.

No reign lasts forever and everything comes to an end; in this case, Harmonious by @boadiceathevictorious puts the cherry on top for the king of Iris/Leather, Dior Homme Parfum, surpassing it in every way. The scent will remind you of it immediately, but the British house’s methods are obvious: overwhelming power that doubles Dior’s and extends the beloved dusty, lipstick-like iris facet. The iris is evident and imposing; the warm, buttery, creamy sweetness of the base comes with notes of rum and cognac, creating a sensual and sophisticated aura made to attract attention. If you are reserved, watch your sprays. It is dusty iris from start to finish, at full strength, with warm, buttery facets and slightly sweetened by the liquor, plus a plush suede leather sensation that outshines any other scent. Sophisticated, elegant, powerful, and attractive. Is it worth it compared to DHP? For me, as an Iris fan, it is more complex and rich in nuances than Dior, which fascinates me, but against this Harmonious, it has little to do. It is close to the early DHP formulations, but dustier and more powerful. Iris fans, you already have another gem.
