Three types of oud with nothing else to accompany them; that is Ilm. Although one is Indian, it is aged and lacks the typical animal ferocity, instead offering a reminiscence of Roquefort cheese. The other two, Bangladeshi and Laotian, take over by adding depth and a woody sweetness as they dry down, as if there were a creamy sandalwood. It evokes a late afternoon in a dense forest after a hot day, with that dampness of dark earth beneath the leaves, alongside resinous and sweet notes. It is an elegant scent and nothing offensive, perfect for the office and ideal for those starting out with quality oud. Completely unisex, with good longevity and a discreet sillage; nothing invasive, but if you step into its sphere, it will not leave you indifferent. Admirable how Kemi works with its woods. A genuine spectacle from start to finish.

  • On some YouTube channels they say it is ‘Cambodian oud’ (almost everything seems Cambodian). It is a lie 🤥🔎 ILM is formed by three ouds from: India, Bangladesh, and Laos. Nothing from Cambodia; one must avoid changing its nationality by whim just to ‘act knowledgeable’. ➡ What does ILM smell like? Imagine something very woody, with a sweet, resinous, and dirty tone, with hints of cheese. I can see the typical ‘stable’ smell, but it is not precise to use that word. It has no development or contrasting notes; there are no flowers, only pure oud. It is a simple, linear offer, masculine, with good-to-moderate performance and difficult for novices, only for those who enjoy oud. An acquired taste. It is one of the most difficult from Kemi. There are friendlier options like the gourmand ‘Aurum’ (chocolate-strawberry). This one (ILM) is excellent for testing aggressive oud. Although Bortnikoff has higher quality, their oud smells very woody and the difficulty lies in the supporting notes (such as ambergris or leather), not the oud itself. ILM is difficult, more so than Bortnikoff but less than The Night by Frederic Malle or Nebulous by Boadicea. A good perfume, I like it! Very interesting and I feel this line has more quality than the Oud Stars by Xerjoff, although I certainly prefer… Kemi.

  • Undoubtedly one of the best in the Kemi line, alongside Kemi and Tempest. It’s an intoxicating and addictive scent, but beware: you must enjoy oud or have prior experience, as it is animalic, almost faecal, and not for everyday wear. People have asked me what I’m wearing and said they’ve never heard anything like it; it’s peculiar and different. Unfortunately, the brand is now extremely rare, but if you can find it and are looking for a very high-quality, authentic oud, get it (better to test first). I detect a very soft raspberry or red fruit and a deliciously sweet oud. Lasts a solid 10 hours for me; I even sleep in it and it’s still on my skin the next day. Projection is moderate, not a beast but noticeable. For me, it’s a jewel; I own many ouds, but this sweeter one is the easiest to enjoy.

It is an intoxicating and addictive scent, but beware: you must like oud or have prior experience, because it is animalistic, almost faecal, and of limited use. People have asked me what I am wearing and say they have never heard anything like it; it is peculiar and different. Unfortunately, it is already a super scarce brand, but if you find it and are looking for a very high-quality, real oud, get it (better to test first). I detect a very soft raspberry or red fruit and a deliciously sweet oud. As for longevity, I am sure it lasts 10 hours, I sleep with it on and the next day it is still on the skin. Medium projection, it is not a beast but it is noticeable. For me it is a jewel; I have many ouds, but this sweet one is the easiest to enjoy.
