  Another Vuitton madness: a clean cologne that smells nice but isn’t explosive or alcoholic. It should have more fantasy and mystery to justify the price, but it doesn’t. Is it underwhelming? Yes, because it smells exactly like a Roger & Gallet from decades ago, with the same texture and diffusion. I only detect an indefinite blend of citrus with muguet green, I thought it was petit grain. It’s a light and sweet formula until that bitter, dirty aftertaste emerges, like peony or young osmanthus. I don’t detect jasmine or magnolia, perhaps a hint of blackcurrant at the end, and no rose either. Longevity and trail are poor, which is normal for its weight. It doesn’t even deserve a lengthy review. It reminds me more of Chanel’s Paris-Biarritz than Neroli Portofino; here, the citrus is better camouflaged with grapefruit and green florals. After trying several from the house, I’d say it’s a terrible brand charging 150 quid for common fragrances. The Marc Newson bottles are certainly pretty. If you fall for this Le Jour se Lève, check out Roger & Gallet editions or classics like Osmanthus Flower, because blindfolded it’s exactly what Vuitton is selling.
