It left me a bit cold; I was expecting something sweeter and incense-like, but it turns out to be a rough, harsh tobacco, like a cat’s tongue. I’m glad I tested samples before buying the full bottle, otherwise I would have had the worst shock of my life. It starts with rough, spiced, slightly smoky tobacco, very coarse, nothing fine or delicate, but rough and harsh, yet discreet with no intention of drawing attention. Gradually the iris emerges, floral and not powdery, staying discreet and in the background; there the tobacco sweetens and I start to like it more: it’s a sweet floral tobacco with a resinous and fresh touch, very vintage, reminiscent of a good classic men’s cologne. It’s not my favourite style, but I recognise its worth. On my skin it doesn’t evolve much and stays as is until it disappears. The performance is moderate, lasting about 6 or 7 hours, but with very discreet projection: it’s okay at first, but fades quickly and clings to the skin in less than half an hour. Poor performance for an ‘eau de parfum’. Being so discreet, it suits any season and time of day, it’s versatile, goes well in any occasion, especially at work. I was a bit disappointed, but it’s my fault for having preconceived ideas about the scent; if we set that aside, it’s not bad for a formal, classic cut. If you’re looking for something classic but more sophisticated, it could be a good option and the price isn’t bad.
