I find this version of their 90s rebranding wonderful, a genuine reformulation that retains its unique and distant aura. Nowadays you can find it but it is very different; the quality of the dress is not the same, it has gone from pure silk to cotton: whispers of stitching, not commercial.
I have a vintage miniature that says ‘parfum’. I fear the notes listed are incorrect and my sample is identical to the 1947 EDT. I clearly detect the aldehydic opening and oakmoss as the dominant note.
Smells of earth and galbanum, intense and serious with a full body and balsamic touch. I expected luminous florals, but it is darker and mossy; earthy. I would place it alongside Eau du Soir by Sisley or Eden by Cacharel for the atmosphere it creates: elegant, stately, warm, and rooted in the earth.
