  • Mon Patchouly is a good fragrance from Monegal that delivers on its patchouli note: dense, majestic, with that earthy, damp touch I like. It’s accompanied by a shy floral and a potent amber that sweetens it to excess, veering towards balsamic-gourmand and making it very cloying. The dry-down is very long-lasting but monotonous, with an excellent trail. I think this patchouli-gourmand is aimed at Monegal’s commercial side, following current trends, which makes it a bit dull to wear. The composition isn’t bad and the quality is good. Rating: 7

  • As I don’t usually like patchoulis, I went in disappointed, though I tolerate them better than others. It seems like a mix of niche and designer accord chords. Especially at first, it reminds me of certain feminine perfumes I can’t quite identify. It has patchouli and amber from the start (an unusual amber), highlighting the jasmine and a fresh geranium. Then the tempered patchouli with the ambered sweetness makes it more tolerable as it’s not as raw as others. It doesn’t convey much naturalness, and the price of 3 euros/ml, claiming creative freedom and anti-marketing, turns out to be marketing too.

  • I agree with the comment above: for those who don’t like it, it’s a very wearable and versatile patchouli, perfect for spring or autumn, day or night. It has two stages: two hours of watery, modern floral patchouli, and then until around six hours (it lasted with a metre projection for an hour) it turns into a cheap 80s cologne. The ingredient quality is poor, the composition simple and it adds nothing. I wouldn’t recommend it, not even for the price.

  • I agree with the previous reviewer: if you dislike patchouli, this is quite wearable and versatile, perfect for spring or autumn, both day and night. It has two distinct phases: the first two hours are a modern aquatic-floral patchouli, then, until around six hours later, it transforms into an 80s men’s cologne with very little projection beyond a metre. The ingredient quality is poor, the composition is simple and adds nothing, so I wouldn’t recommend it, especially given the price.

I was lucky to try it in a Discovery set sent with my Flamenco purchase, one of my favourites. Thanks to that I tried it, because generally I’m not a fan of patchouli and probably never would have given it a go. It smells like patchouli, but different to others: woody, sweet, dark and medicinal, but less ‘chocolatey’ and lighter, with a fresh sweetness that makes it addictive. It’s my favourite patchouli so far. I recommend it to those who love it for its different take and to those who don’t. Scent: 9 Longevity: 9 Sillage: 8 Versatility: 8 Originality: 10 Overall: 9

  • Mon Patchouly is to patchouli what Oud Wood is to oud: a very wearable and enjoyable version, even if you don’t usually like patchouli. It’s one of my favourite notes, feels very natural. What makes it versatile is that perfect blend of floral and amber with a sweet touch (RM’s signature).

I’m a woman and tried it one day when I was feeling fancy, knowing it’s more of a man’s scent, but on my skin it came across as super feminine and I loved it. I like patchouli; to me it’s charming, lasted hours and smelled better with time; the trail was more masculine at first, but then it became my own signature 🎉

  • What a delight, a patchouli that embraces you and lingers all day. At first it smells like balm, then it becomes super cosy, perfect for a date without being over the top.
