  Mouchoir de Monsieur is the masculine counterpart of Jicky and the epitome of an aristocratic scent. It is the male alter ego of that mythical 1889 Jicky which broke with previous classics. While they are very similar in notes and musky nature, there are nuances: Jicky has a more amber base thanks to sandalwood and vanilla, whereas Mouchoir de Monsieur is more mossy and herbal due to oakmoss. It smells like an elegant gentleman with a walking stick. It’s not for the young, although I loved it at twenty-one, proving that ‘old-fashioned’ is a matter of taste. Its downside is that it doesn’t last long and stays close to the skin. In short, it is a classic, refined jewel from Guerlain, suitable for all seasons. I give it ten.

  A fragrance from the old school. I have mature Guerlain scents like Habit Rouge that suit me even though I’m young, but this one feels too dated for my taste. I’d recommend it to a gentleman aged sixty or older. Like my friend Juan Richart Ruiz 9, it reminds me of the legendary Jicky, though Mouchoir de Monsieur isn’t as musky as that classic.
