It was a very special perfume with a unique scent that wasn’t repeated in those days; it transported you straight to the Amazon rainforest and lasted for ages. The bottle was beautiful, what a pity it’s no longer available.
I’ve been searching for Neblina for some time, and it is a truly original fragrance. It gives me that sense of lightness, freshness, and harmony that I love so much.
While reviewing my millennium collection, I found Yves Rocher’s Neblina, just like the orchid that inspired it, hidden in the mist over pristine mineral soils at the summit. In the heart of the Amazon, among stones and endemic greens, a fragile unknown flower offered itself in three distinct aromas, identified by chromatography, which declined into two complementary fragrances: the Dawn and the Night of a wild ecosystem. It is a different, original, intense, floral and chlorophyll-rich fragrance, with a fresh top and a floral heart that lingers on the skin with a complex base. Smelling it, I relive my trip to Austria where I discovered it in Salzberg, in a small, warm shop in the Alps. And I remember a slogan that was one of the most beautiful: ‘Between sky and earth, feel like another woman’.
What a terrible name they gave this fragrance? I can imagine a Frenchman saying it and that doesn’t help. Even the typography on the label is off; it looks like a cheap imitation of something superior. And yet, it is an exotic green floral with mossy and woody touches, very peculiar and with personality. I recognise the originality, but with an orchida note, I prefer other previous creations by Yves Rocher that, despite their success, were also savagely discontinued. These from Yves Rocher never stop! And not for the better: their current perfumed waters, with that identical bottle and names changing almost every year, don’t invite you to fall in love. And the Evidence, which incomprehensibly have become classics after two decades, are far from the quality of their disappeared ones. A shame.
I bought Neblina blindly, drawn by the name of that sacred peak straddling Brazil and Venezuela in the heart of the jungle. It’s a remote place, full of permits and political mystery, a truly unique ecological corner. And… well, it disappointed me a little. I expected something more magical coming from there. What I found was an intense exotic fruit that barely lets a pale orchid breathe, which fades into a deep, dark green. I can’t deny it’s original and not bad, but it just wasn’t for me. It hurts that it’s no longer available. Yves Rocher has always done a good job, innovating and making quality perfumes accessible to everyone. What a pity so many jewels now live only in memory.
