Yves Rocher gifted us these adorable Nature potliques, reminiscent of Gal’s vaseline tins but with a more naïve touch, designed to carry the solid perfume. What a brilliant idea; nowadays, only luxury houses like Diptyque produce them. I once owned one, and it was perfect for my handbag to revive the scent as it began to fade. It brings back memories of Titanic; after watching it, I bought Art Deco jewellery and embraced a very feminine look. Nature evoked a ray of sunlight filtering through a dark forest, illuminating a Kate Winslet in her black cloak and incredible dresses. Today’s Nature is not even a shadow of what it once was, yet I sometimes smell it because, in some way, it still wants to remind me of that era.

Green, oily, wet, and woody. It was the accessible option for women who did not wish to spend a fortune on Dior, YSL, or Chanel, and the best part is that it smells wonderful. A lush green water, enchanting and very natural, for simple, cultured but not pretentious, kind women. They are those who, in a white shirt and nude lipstick, look exquisite not because they are the most beautiful, but because their eyes are full of light, curiosity, and serenity. It is impossible for me to smell Nature without thinking of a teacher or a vowed mother, who is never disturbed, has kind words, and cleans the house as if it were gold, even if she has no money. It is simplicity and happiness in the form of a fragrance. The 1990s version was fabulous, rich, almost tangible like flowers soaked in dew, green stems, vines, shadowed courtyards, and hand cream. One of the best from Yves Rocher, a house not found in encyclopaedias but which allowed so many people to smell good at a fair price.

Green, oily, wet and woody. It was the accessible option for women who did not want to splash out on Dior, YSL or Chanel, and the best part is that it smells wonderful. A rich verdant water, enchanting and very natural, for simple, cultured but not pretentious, kind women. They are those who look lovely in a white shirt and nude lipstick, not because they are the most beautiful, but because their eyes are full of light, curiosity and serenity. It is impossible for me to smell Nature without thinking of a vocational teacher or mother, who never loses her temper, has good words and cleans the house as if it were gold, even if she has no money. It is simplicity and happiness in the form of a fragrance. The 90s version was fabulous, rich, almost palpable like flowers soaked in dew, green stems, vines, shadowed courtyards and hand cream. Yves Rocher Nature was one of my first go-to fragrances, back when I was a girl and almost a woman. I want to blend what I wore yesterday with what I wore for years. In my childhood, opening it revealed an excellent lushness, an overwhelming tenacity of moss that harmonised perfectly with a flawless lily, possessing a density I have rarely felt. I love and defend Private Collection to the hilt because my introduction to a substantial green floral began with this wonderful Nature. Wearing it felt like living in a mossy forest, dark, with streams after a copious winter rain, a natural and dangerous darkness. It offered citrus highlights that soothed it and flowers that added tenderness and less dampness. Today it is an echo of what it once was, showing a desire to reach that dark part that always dominated. Its moss is no longer so thick; it is a forest affected by global warming, not what it used to be. Nature had a trail that split the face from 200 perfumes of today that claim to be worth what they charge. I would give anything for a vintage bottle.
