  Finally, I have my Nirvana Bourbon. A 100% success. For me, it’s: a businesswoman after a hard day, closing heaps of contracts and earning a fortune. She’s in a bar alone with a glass of bourbon, wearing a brown suede skirt to the knee and stable heels. She’s not in a rush to leave; surely she’ll order another drink; she’s a little tired but satisfied with herself. It’s a classy fragrance, quality leather, and well-vanillised, with good longevity and sillage.

  They sent me a sample, and upon applying it, it immediately reminded me of my Mancera Velvet Vanilla. I wouldn’t say it’s a clone, but it resembles it remarkably.

  If you’re looking for a hyper-realistic oak, this is it. The wood dominates so much it almost eclipses the bourbon vanilla. I detect the neroli among the other notes, but that white flower doesn’t shine because the oak is the star; perhaps there’s a hint of leather. I bought it expecting neroli bathed in vanilla, but instead I’m met with very marked wood. It doesn’t smell bad, but it’s not what I wanted, as I hoped the neroli would be the main accord. In short: the neroli is there, but it’s very resinous, woody, and has leather tints.
