I’m surprised this fragrance is so little-known. There’s always that scent I keep searching for without thinking much about it. Sometimes it takes a while to realise it’s already yours, and one day you find yourself standing before a display case filled with different fragrances, each special in its own way and brimming with memories and longings. Memories of a distant country where a particular scent was used with great frequency and pleasure. A longing for last summer and those long, warm nights when you’d sit outside gazing at the stars. But then there’s this special aroma that doesn’t stir any memories within you, doesn’t evoke any longing, and yet the 15ml vial is suddenly half-empty. Immediately after spraying, I detect this typical oud note, and the rose is also briefly noticeable, but without thorns and nothing prickly on the nose. Now you just need a few minutes of patience, and the fragrance melts into your skin and your soul. It becomes warm, and a sweet, spiced amber and caramelised warmth suddenly envelops you like a comforting, protective aura. And in the dry-down, a warm, slightly smoky vanilla lingers on the skin. A perfectly suited fragrance for winter, well-perceptible as is its longevity and trail. The scent lasts undisturbed for hours, and you can still smell it on your clothes the next day. I really like it, but I won’t be buying it, as for a sixth of its price you can get Lattafa’s Oud Mood, which is 80% similar, minus the animalic opening. If that weren’t available, it would be an almost obligatory purchase for me.
