To me, this Olympea is the bastard child of Pure XS and Good Girl Legere (CH).
🙈🙈🙈🙈 next please. This is no longer Olympea. I don’t know the reason they compare it to Angel Elixir. It’s even worse.
I tested it today and immediately knew I wouldn’t buy it. I thought: ‘I already have one, which one does it resemble?’? It took me three minutes to remember where I’d tested this scent, and of course, I haven’t used my Girl of Now by Elie Saab in ages, but there it was: Olympea Absolu smelling shamelessly identical. The only difference I found is that this one is more jasmine and the other more orange blossom; the rest is almost identical. So when I say almost identical, I mean I wouldn’t think it was a flanker; if I smelled it on someone else, I wouldn’t say it’s Girl of Now, I’d say it IS Girl of Now. I loved it anyway; it doesn’t resemble the other Olympeas I’ve tried.
I went to test it thinking the centre detail was a moon (‘no, it’s a locket’), and while it’s rich, I feel it’s an easy scent, something anyone could like. I get the impression it was formulated just to please everyone, nothing more. It’s nocturnal, sweet, ambered and creamy; I wouldn’t buy it because it doesn’t offer any olfactory novelty, but I must admit it smells very nice. I suppose if I apply enough of it, I’ll get compliments… I don’t notice the similarity with GON, perhaps in the dry-down where its sweet base predominates? Yes, both end up being sweet.
Look, total confession: I tested it last night at 10 PM and today, after more than 24 hours, it’s still clinging to my wrist. It’s not intrusive, but it has a superb presence, very typical of gourmands. Mind you, we’re in Argentina and last night the Santa Rosa storm hit: rain, clouds, cool and humid. I reckon that’s why it exploded into all its glory; it’s ideal for cold, fresh climates or spring nights. On the other hand, from the start it’s a gourmand with masculine touches, but once it settles, it brought back an olfactory memory I didn’t have: the beautiful Hypnotic Poison by Dior. For goodness sake, it’s almost identical. Comparing the notes, they share everything except the amber. Dior is more complex, fruity and acidic, but that realistic vanilla is identical, exquisite. I love that with so few notes they managed to create something so well-made. I know I’m not a fan of gourmands, but I’m keeping this for its beastly longevity and those vintage vibes. Packaging 10/10, longevity 100/10, sillage 8/10 (edit: when I buy it).
