Polo Modern Reserve
Acordes principales
Descripción
Polo Modern Reserve by Ralph Lauren is a woody fragrance for men. Launched in 2008, the nose behind this composition is Carlos Benaïm. The top notes unfold with basil, Jamaican pepper, and cardamom; the heart reveals vetiver, myrrh, and jasmine; while the base notes settle on suede, woods, and patchouli.

Very potent and of high quality; people comment on it constantly. Longevity and projection are top-notch. It is hard to come by at the moment and the price has skyrocketed.
It’s a bomb, first-class quality, and I receive compliments from every angle. Longevity and projection never fail. It’s a tiger to find these days and the price has risen enormously.
Starts with basil and bell pepper, a curious blend that is neither sweet nor overly vegetal. Forget the coniferous or mentholated touch of the original Polo Green. Half an hour in, jasmine and pepper take over. By two hours, the jasmine persists with a powdery nuance that, strangely, reminds me of Burberry’s Weekend for Men, even though that fragrance doesn’t list jasmine. By four hours, the jasmine joins a light vetiver and some patchouli. By ten hours, the dry-down smells more like Polo Green, but simplified: soft woods, patchouli, suede, and perhaps a resinous hint that could be myrrh. Despite being called ‘Polo Modern Reserve’, I don’t feel it is a modernised or simplified version of the classic; it’s almost a different fragrance. Those ‘half-measures’ don’t convince everyone: traditionalists reject it, and young people might find it lacks modernity. Nevertheless, it is a good woody and soft fragrance, less complex than Polo Green but more accessible. Ideal for those who dislike today’s sweet and commercial scents but find the traditional Polo too old-fashioned. It has good, moderate sillage and a longevity exceeding 12 hours. Without the resinous and dense notes of the traditional Polo, I see it as perfect for spring, summer, daytime wear, and formal occasions.
