Roses on Ice by Kilian, created in 2020 by perfumer Frank Voelkl, is an aromatic fragrance designed for men and women. Its olfactive pyramid begins with top notes of cucumber, juniper berries, lime, violet leaves and pink pepper; the heart reveals a rose accompanied by ozonic notes; and the base settles on musk, sandalwood, ambroxan and cedar.

Roses on Ice opens liquorous, spicy, and bitter, like a gin tonic with a green air. As it dries, it leaves behind the astringency and becomes a cold, slightly sweet drink, with rose petals and slices of cucumber. If the cucumber is noticeable, it gives a fleshy, fresh, and green touch without overdoing it. At first, I was scared of that note, but it’s brilliant combined and gives it something special. It doesn’t smell like salad, haha! It feels sexy and luxurious. The dry-down is super addictive and has surprised me. I know nothing like it; it projects well and lasts about 8 hours. Totally unisex. I want it.

Roses on Ice by Killian opens super fresh with a cheerful rose; it’s not potent at first, but very clean, and ‘on ice’ is well said. I wish that fresh opening lasted longer as I love those crisp starts. As it dries, I notice cucumber and wood, and although many say the cucumber is a disaster, to me it’s distinctive and original without ruining anything, adding real freshness. When blended with the wood, it becomes unisex with a masculine touch. It reminds me of gin. The best thing: I tested it only on my wrist, and although scents normally don’t last long there on me, this one held up after my shower, with exceptional longevity and projection; I walked away from the place and the scent trailed me; I was impressed by the longevity and projection of this fragrance despite being just a splash.

Yes, when it blends with the wood, it leans slightly masculine; I found it rich and would wear it, though I think it would suit my husband better. I agree with those comparing it to gin; that’s definitely where it lies. What I must highlight is that when I tested it, I sprayed it only on my wrist; personally, scents don’t last long there on me, but I have to say this fragrance lasted after my shower, so I consider it to have exceptional longevity. I also felt it projected very well; I walked away from where I tested it and felt the scent trailing me; it was just one spray, yet I was quite impressed by the longevity and projection of this fresh fragrance.
