Spice +: A Cosy, Milk-Soft Oriental from Commodity

Commodity’s Spice + is a spiced oriental fragrance for women and men, introduced in 2026. The composition is by perfumer Christelle Laprade, conceived as a warm and enveloping unisex wear.

Rather than sheer heat, it explores softness: crisp saffron and allspice give way to cinnamon folded into sugar and condensed milk. Spice remains at the core, yet it is tempered by vanilla-like sweetness and creamy wood.

To begin, saffron meets allspice. The saffron lends a dry, faintly leathery character, while the allspice contributes a bright, peppered freshness. Together they set a clearly oriental, warm-spiced tone.

The middle places cinnamon front and centre, made rounded and lactonic by sugar and condensed milk. Safraleine extends the saffron theme with a polished amber-leather nuance, lending shape to the sugared warmth.

Towards the base, tonka bean and sandalwood take over. Tonka deepens the sweet, vanilla facet, and sandalwood supplies a mellow, creamy timber that steadies the spices. The woody, leathery and milky accords feel most settled at this stage.

On skin, Spice + wears as winter comfort, cosy, intimate and best enjoyed on chilly afternoons and evenings. As a genuinely shared scent, it allows cinnamon, milky sweetness and soft wood to sit close and linger gently.

It should suit those drawn to cinnamon, saffron and sweetly spiced scents with a milky finish, alongside admirers of tonka and sandalwood. Ideal for anyone after a warm, unisex oriental where spice is cushioned by vanilla and wood.

Spice + presents spice as reassurance: lively at first, honeyed with cinnamon and condensed milk at its centre, then grounded in tonka and sandalwood. Christelle Laprade’s composition offers Commodity a creamy, cold-season take on the spiced oriental.
