I’ll start with the official notes for Imaginary Authors, as some are missing on Fragrantica: lemon, iris, tobacco flower, leather, hay, and asphalt. The Cobra And The Canary is a daring and above all, difficult fragrance. It opens with quite a rough leather, with animal nuances and slightly faecal undertones, giving a generally wild sensation. The tobacco flower becomes noticeable after five minutes, but it smells more like blond tobacco. Gradually, the leather takes over the scent until the tobacco note becomes almost imperceptible. The hay in the heart is also very evident, and while I’m not sure how they will recreate the asphalt note, it is true that if you imagine it, it can come to mind. But imagination is very important here. By the final phase, the leather remains alongside the hay, but with the animal and wild nuances much calmer. The performance, while nothing extraordinary, is not bad either. It has good longevity and good projection at the beginning, especially, but seems to fade too soon. I see it as totally masculine and suitable for fresh climates. Personally, I didn’t like it. I admire the perfumer’s intention and the risk taken with this creation; there’s no doubt it’s an original fragrance, and although the scent doesn’t please me, the quality of the blend is unquestionable, but simply the smell doesn’t attract me and I can’t see myself using it again. Although I won’t say that at least the experience of trying it wasn’t worth it.
