The evolution of this perfume is curious. I’ve known it for some time, always on blotter, and I would have tried it 3 or 4 times, always giving me the same feeling: a twist on BabyCat down that path. A few days ago at an event at Le Secret du Marais, I tested it thoroughly on skin. The opening is the same, a twist on BabyCat, rich but familiar. But the dry-down… oh, the dry-down is pure magic. It has gone from a discard to a guaranteed future purchase.
An opening of pure vanilla and tonka bean, with delicious sweet almond nuances. It has that tonka bean quality that never cloyes; it’s a perfect sweetness (at least for me, who isn’t a gourmand lover). After an hour, I notice a lot of iris, which persists in the dry-down: a creamy, vanilla-infused iris. The truth is, it’s a very good scent. Straight to my wishlist.
As with everything by Jordi Fernández, you’ll either love it or not, but it’s well-made. It’s very much in the line of BabyCat and Lune Feline. I like it a lot, though I prefer some of his others, but once tried, I must have it. I know I’ll be wearing it on many grey mornings or rainy afternoons. The projection is moderate and the longevity on me exceeds 7 hours, even longer on clothes. What stands out most is the ambered touch of the vanilla.
Thanks Rober for the chance to try it. I like the scent overall, though it doesn’t quite steal my heart. It opens with a citrus and spicy accord, featuring a sparkling sweetness that’s my main gripe. Everything is well-balanced; the sweet orange is the first thing I notice, giving way to cinnamon, which takes centre stage for a good while. It’s a noticeable cinnamon but not suffocating. An interesting opening where iris begins to peek through, leading the heart: a luminous iris, nothing dense or lipstick-like, feeling fresh and reminding me of Acríbelo. Very wearable and pleasant. This iris will be the matrix for a long time… iris, iris, iris. Mid-to-late stage, lots of light and brilliance. Then the turn is broad: only the iris remains before yielding to the resinous tonka bean in the base. You can sense those three notes, and the light dims. It gains density but not darkness, sweet but not gourmand. A curious olfactory journey. From start to finish, it’s quality, elegant, lasts easily 7-8 hours, and is unisex. Ideal for cold days. Cons: the sugary orange opening takes points off and perhaps it lacks the magic to hook me. Recommended.
