Ultraviolet Aquatic is a very different flanker from the original, though it retains the paprika note. While the original is dusty, spicy violets where the fruitiness of the paprika is barely noticeable and only gives a unique tingling sensation, here the fruity aspect of the paprika, along with the raspberry and perhaps the blackberry, creates a ‘tomaty’ scent enhanced by osmanthus. The flowers tame that culinary intensity as they dry, leaving a sweet, dusty base typical of musk foundations. It reminds me of my ninth birthday at a famous hair salon in my city, filled with merjungs, nail polishes and hair products that created a similar smell. It doesn’t bother me, but it’s curious. Now that I live in Argentina, I bought a replica from the Galapagos brand of the original Ultraviolet, but it smells too much like Aquatic Plastic; I don’t know if they’ve changed the essences, but it’s noticeable.
