Vanì Charnel by Epicò

Of all the vanillas I own, this is one of the milkiest; its longevity on clothes has been over 24 hours. I understand why it’s compared to Jousset’s Accident à la Vanille, yet that fragrance has a more biscuity, crumbly quality. To my nose, Varni Charnel is milky, even more so than the famous Bianco Latte. I absolutely love it!

I discovered this gem in a sample I ordered with a purchase from an Italian perfumerie (specifically when I bought Escapade Gourmand by Mataha). The moment I smelled it, I fell to my knees. To my nose, this essence sits right between Accident à la Vanille and Bianco Latte by Giardini di Toscana. If you enjoy these two fragrances, buy blind; you’ll hit the bullseye, ‘no miss possible’. It is one of the most appetising gourmand scents (in the edible and intoxicating sense of the word) I have ever smelled. Vanilla and caramel dominate, resting on a milky base that gives off a vibe like white chocolate, reminiscent of the roll found in Bianco Latte or Lait concentré by Chabaud, although Épico sits more centrally in the only sense that, while remaining an eminently sweet fragrance, it tones down the decibels of sweetness compared to the aforementioned ones. An extraordinary quality gourmand perfume, essential for any collection of lovers of this type of fragrance (gourmand). Longevity 6-8 hours. Sillage is good for the first two hours, then close but it doesn’t disappear. You appreciate it at all times. If you are a lover of gourmand perfumes, you will find it unisex. If not, you might perceive it as leaning towards the feminine side. I say this in case for someone this type of opinion on gender in perfumes might still be a factor to consider, to help them get an idea, although over time, if you are a passionate about fragrances, there will come a moment when it doesn’t matter to you, as no aroma has a gender, absolutely none (this is a very personal opinion, as every person is free and has the right to opine as they feel)
