Yellow Diamond by Versace

I love it; it smells of pure spring.

Floral and youthful, one of those uncomplicated scents that go with everything (office, studies, cinema or with friends…). In my case, it is not so citrusy; I would say rather a fresh floral with delicious shampoo notes. It reminds me a bit of Versace’s Yellow Jeans, which I wore at fifteen. But it has no age limits: my mother is seventy-eight and asked for it as a gift.

Smells of yellow flowers, refreshing and simple. It doesn’t feel particularly youthful; longevity and sillage are average. Have I been sold a fake? I absolutely love the bottle.

One of my favourite perfumes for its softness and tenderness. I’d read that neroli is typical of children’s colognes, but here it is more sophisticated and woody. Perfumes don’t usually last long on my skin, however, the other day, after a three-hour journey, I was praised immediately upon arrival and greeting, which is brilliant for an EDT.

I admire this fragrance greatly because it has something conceptual that makes it ethereal; if yellow had a scent, it would be this. Although I also imagine sky blue because of how clean it feels. Reviews have already listed the notes, highlighting the mimosa. I think the great effect lies in the combination of mimosa with lotus and freesia: it is extremely revitalising, full of harmony and beauty like a ray of spring sunshine. One of the notes I love seems like an old dark syrup, apothecary or old pharmacy style, similar to Peru Balsam. That dark, syrupy note is sweet and bitter, balancing the scent by removing all heaviness and obviousness, making it interesting. This impression is much more noticeable in Mimosa and Coriander by Adolfo Domínguez. I’d like to know what note it is; I suppose it’s the guaiac; it appears occasionally during the dry-down, shining in the final phase like a drop of resin in the sun. Absolutely beautiful, a treasure to keep. Christine Nagel really shone with this great composition, certainly the best in the Versace Crystals range.

I tried it on the tester and on my skin, and I don’t know why—perhaps the tester was faulty—but it left a fishy smell. I truly can’t explain it and would never buy it; there are better fresh options available.

I tried it with a 5ml sample and was disappointed: neither longevity nor personality on my skin. It’s barely like a cologne, volatile and ephemeral.

This is my mum’s signature fragrance and I adore it; it brings back lovely memories. It smells of sweet lemon with the warmth of woods. I’m not sure if I detect lemon and pear and a flower I don’t recognise (probably mimosa), but in the base there are very delicate, cosy woods. I love it!

An ode to mimosa, enchanting! For many years it was my signature fragrance and today it remains one of my favourites for summer. I find it very clean and luminous, with a bright musk. It’s feminine, clean, fresh but with a chic touch. My favourite note is the mimosa: it smells like a fresh, elegant woman just out of the shower, as if royalty were strolling through the gardens of their castle. It’s an all-rounder fragrance and I love it, 10/10 and more.

My mum uses it and it’s her favourite. I love it because it concentrates well on clothes and skin, lasting all day without being annoying. It’s a very modest and elegant fragrance, floral with musk and a little citrus. It can be worn day and night.

I don’t see it as a summer scent, but rather for spring. On very hot days, it feels too intense and sweet.

For me, this Yellow Diamond is pleasant for spring and summer, but after receiving it as a gift, it will pass through my collection without making much of an impression. It has that typical citrus-floral-musk pyramid. While others recognise it as mimosa, my nose finds the floral heart blurred; I detect much freesia, aquatic water lily, citrus, and a musk base. I would not categorise it as mimosa because it is not what stands out most. The scent is generic, like shampoo or body cream: it is pleasant, refreshing, and clean, but lacks an interesting depth. I would use it for training, going to work, or shopping in informal daytime situations. It has moderate sillage and lasts 5–6 hours. Although I like other fragrances with this composition, Yellow Diamond has not won my heart and I would not repurchase it. Scent 5.5/10, Longevity 5.5/10, Sillage 7/10, Value for money 6/10, Versatility 5.5/10, Packaging 8/10. Would I buy again? No.

Yellow Diamond is a lovely perfume where mimosa is the star. The yellow floral aspect is accompanied by the sweetness of pears and the freshness of neroli and lemons. I also detect a hint of lotus, which makes it ideal for hot, humid summers. It does not have much projection, it is suitable for the office, but it does last quite a while (12 hours on my skin). It is the most sparkling Versace diamond I have tried and, although it does not smell natural or original, it seems like a pleasant all-rounder for women to wear when it is hot. Pleasant 7/10, Interesting 3/10, Versatile 7/10, Original 4/10.

Light, fresh, and sweet aroma, I love it! I bought it a bit blindly, expecting not to regret it, and definitely I did not. I use it during the day in spring and summer, but the truth is I have used it on almost all occasions, climates, and seasons.

I am someone who avoids citrus perfumes, not because I dislike the scent, but because I feel they no longer suit me; I used to like them more when I was a teenager. However, in my city the heat was infamous for months past and I ended up buying this fragrance. I have liked it very much. I feel that, without really resembling it, it follows the same line as Eros Pour Femme EDT: citrus, floral, with a touch of sweetness. It is wearable and fresh, I think it is one of those that could not offend or overwhelm anyone. The opening is very fruity and then the flowers and woods blend in a very pleasant harmony. It has low sillage, it is more for personal enjoyment, and lasts about 4 hours. It is one of my favourites for going to the gym.
