Share what you noticed: opening, drydown, sillage and the moments when it works for you.
Starts with a raw, green bamboo, as if you’ve just yanked it from the roots with force. Then it settles into a strange scent between church flowers and damp laundry, but only for a few minutes. Once dried, it’s 80% identical to L’eau d’Issey by Miyake; it lacks the yuzu, but at 350 pesos here in Mexico, it’s madness compared to the original which costs a thousand. Hope they didn’t confuse it with Drakkar Noir, because it has nothing to do with it; they’re two completely different things.
I don’t know why, but to me it smells like out-of-fashion flowers or an old bunch from church.
I bought it in the end and honestly, it sounds like Lacoste Blanc to me; I’m not 100% sure, but it feels that way. It’s a good scent, although the price is high; with that money, you could get something better like Guess, Nautica, or Hugo Boss.
Look, it doesn’t sound like Drakkar Noir to me either, although I have the new bottle. Rather, it smells like Bulgari’s Aqva Amara. The citrus notes are cheap, but when it dries, the galbanum, patchouli, and coumarin give a spicy kick that doesn’t go with the heat or humidity. I’d give it 5.5/10.
Smells fresh and nice; it’s a 95% clone of Drakkar Noir, although this Jafra one feels a bit darker and cooler due to the juniper. You can smell the bamboo and mint. For the price it has, it fulfils its function of smelling clean and with personality.
