It smells good, but it’s not the beast you imagine from the notes. Cold down it smells fantastic, but it’s very shy and barely projects a metre. It would stand out more if it were powerful; it’s expensive and not worth the price.

Cuir 28 is Le Labo’s exclusive for Dubai, only available outside the city in September. It is one of the house’s finest. It opens with leather reminiscent of Santal 33, blended with spicy notes, animalic and smoky facets, and a petrol-like sensation; the dry-down is spectacular. It then settles into an earthy, dark vetiver that dominates the heart, accented with floral and almond touches, all over a sensual, creamy, ambered, and musky base with just the right amount of sweetness. It lasts well, although the trail is moderate except for that powerful opening. A truly beautiful olfactory journey.
