Deep Euphoria by Calvin Klein

On my skin it’s a rose with red berries (which aren’t listed) and evolves into plenty of pepper, patchouli and herbs, as if I’d stuck my arm in the dietetics department’s spice rack. Once dried down, the rose becomes calm and fresh thanks to the jasmine. It’s super woody, unisex and potent, perfect for evenings or autumn and winter days.

I went to try some perfumes, the sales assistant said it was on offer and since I’d already tried Euphoria, I was interested. On the blotter it seemed rich and more complex, but at home I thought I’d been confused and that it was a man’s scent due to the woods. The next day, paying closer attention, I noticed a powerful, woody opening with an artificial plastic note. That strong mist lasts only minutes before fading, leaving a more feminine yet strange scent with woods that smell like a men’s fragrance. If I sniff it properly, the trail smells like meadow hay. I think the artificial notes change on the skin, so I recommend trying it directly.

It doesn’t smell of dampness; it’s very rich and one of my favourites. I was surprised.

I bought it on offer, wary of the mixed reviews. On my skin it starts citrussy and fresh (tangerine leaves?), but quickly patchouli and woods take over, lasting several hours. I don’t sense any floral notes, not at all! Still, it’s lovely, unisex and even masculine, ideal for going out at night or taking a break from gourmand perfumes.

Unlike most, it doesn’t smell of dampness on me; instead, it highlights the patchouli. It’s a woody floral ideal for the crisp days at the end of winter. It lasts six hours with short sillage, perfect for heading to work without invading spaces. Recommended for those who are fed up with invasive gourmands in the office.

They gave it to me as a gift, and what can I say? The initial opening smells of petrichor, wet earth and literally dampness. The first time I didn’t like it, it’s not my thing, but then it settles. Although I’m one to judge by first impressions, I must admit it lasts more than six hours and eventually becomes delicate, with roses and jasmine.

I really like it; it has a note reminiscent of Poison Girl. Lasts four hours on my skin with moderate sillage, versatile and rich.

I don’t like it at all. As mentioned before, there’s a rather unpleasant damp accord that dominates on my skin; it smells like clothes that have been left in the washing machine for two days.

I tried this fragrance out of curiosity yesterday, as I already own other Euphoria scents. At first, I adored it, but then it felt very commercial. It’s fresh and pleasant for hot weather without being vulgar, yet that ‘wet’ note felt uncomfortable and unpleasant to me. It’s unisex but lacks impact. I follow the same pattern: I fall in love at first sight, then I leave it behind. This time, I didn’t fall for it. Sillage and longevity are moderate. Recommended if you’re looking for a soft chypre.

I’m not a fan of the classic Euphoria; I find it unisex and overpowering. When I went to try the Deep, I imagined something similar to the original, but it has nothing to do with it. I didn’t like it; it was nothing special or interesting and evaporated quickly on my skin. I felt disappointed. That’s how it is.
