Dance Red Midnight by Shakira

The scent is rich, but in the dry-down there’s something that doesn’t quite sit right for me; I can detect a synthetic touch that takes away from the full enjoyment. It’s decent for the price, but I wouldn’t buy it again.

It smells fresh and futuristic. On my skin, the blueberries, neroli, and jasmine dominate with a sweet, characterful touch. It projects well and lasts about six hours. I love it; it’s worth it because it’s cheap, lasts a long time, and smells absolutely delicious.

The first thing I notice is sweet neroli with an acidic touch (I suppose the blueberries), especially at the start. Then the vanilla drops in a gourmand way that reminds me a bit of Black Opium. I also sense a spicy side, though it’s not declared. I’m not a huge fan of Shakira, but this one has pleased me immensely. On my skin, it has a decent longevity, which surprised me. Like others, it’s for fresh or cold climates.

It’s the only Shakira perfume worth buying for its longevity: it lasted 6 to 7 hours on my skin and projects well. Although it smells slightly synthetic, it reminds me a lot of Olympea Legend. It’s affordable and a great alternative.

I bought it for the blueberry and vanilla notes and have already used more than three bottles. For me, it’s an ideal EDT for cold weather; when summer started in Buenos Aires, I put it away as I didn’t like it, perhaps due to my skin’s pH in the heat, but in the cold it fixes well on skin and clothes, smells soft, and highlights the vanilla with the blueberry. The bergamot’s acidic touches are subtle. No one has praised it up close like others; I get the impression of a short trail that’s noticeable when greeting someone. It’s not cloying; I recommend it to those who prefer something sweet but subtle.

I love it; I’m a big fan of vanilla combined with flowers and gourmand essences. It reminds me of other scents I can’t quite identify, but it’s not an aroma you’d say ‘I’ve never smelled before’. I feel it’s creamy and warm, as if there’s an undeclared caramel note. As it settles on the skin, I feel it’s very in the style of Carolina Herrera; I can’t recall which one specifically, but it has that vibe. Edit: Smelling it among my perfumes, I feel it’s very similar to Kriska Sonhos by Natura. That creamy, sweet, warm, and gourmand sensation.

It’s a delicious perfume; despite coffee not being listed as a note, I get that sensation from it; it’s a very rich chocolatey fragrance, excellent for a night out. Putting it on generates compliments.

I just bought it today, 19/11/2022. I purchased it because the neroli note is one of my favourites, where it stands out as in L’Interdit, for example. The neroli is noticeable at times, but the vanilla is so strong it doesn’t let that note stand out more. It’s very similar to Olympea Legend; I own it and the truth is they’re too alike.

It’s not ugly, but I wouldn’t wear it. The neroli and vanilla are what I smell most. That animalic and powdery touch doesn’t sit well with me; it’s not my style. 4-5 hours very close to the skin; it doesn’t project. For its price, you can’t ask for much more.

I liked it quite a bit; on me, it smells exactly like Givenchy’s L’Interdit. Moderate sillage, lasts about 6 hours on skin and a little longer on clothes. The original lasts all day, so for those who can’t afford it and want to try it, this is an excellent alternative.

I love it; it’s incredibly enveloping. The orange blossom and vanilla are very prominent, and it lasts longer on clothes than on skin. It could do with a bit more longevity and sillage, but it smells fantastic for winter. It’s not heavy, so it’s perfect for the office.

The opening is fresh due to the citrus, but the flowers I adore appear quickly. It finishes with a very sweet caramel and vanilla. It’s the sweet side of vanilla, which is why I don’t perceive it as Scandal, which has honey. Dance Red Midnight is more about sweet vanilla orange blossom. It reminds me of my grandmother’s orange blossom, which she used in water to cure herself. As it dries, it resembles gourmands like Scandal or La Petite Robe Noire Intense. I have a decant and enjoyed it; I’ll add it to my collection. Due to the sweetness, I think it’s best for fresh days, though it can be worn day or night. It has a warm aura and is just right for the cold.

I’ve smelled it before on another, perhaps more expensive, brand, but that doesn’t make it smell better. It’s a good perfume, but too heavy (I’ll try it in winter). The first hour is cloying, then the burnt caramel becomes more bearable. For the price, it’s decent and suited for winter. I’d gift it to someone older who enjoys dense perfumes. To reiterate, it’s heavy; I wouldn’t buy it blind even if it were cheap.
