Dance Red Midnight by Shakira

Shakira’s Dance Red Midnight… I adore it because it’s so similar to Givenchy’s L’Interdit. I don’t hold back on praising its own creation because it’s inevitable to compare it with that icon, and that’s exactly why I’m obsessed. I really enjoy it. This flanker is more similar than Dance Midnight, which is why I bought it too. I enjoy both so much that I don’t hesitate to reapply after six hours, which is what I’ve noticed for longevity on the skin. If you can’t manage with Givenchy’s L’Interdit at an event, this by Shakira is a good option. I adore the neroli note; it’s my favourite flower in perfumery. I recommend it for a casual, chic, and sexy look. Perfumes and more… Nahuell.

I bought it for the blueberry and vanilla notes and have already used more than three bottles. For me, it’s an ideal EDT for cold weather; when summer started in Buenos Aires, I put it away as I didn’t like it, perhaps due to my skin’s pH in the heat, but in the cold it fixes well on skin and clothes, smells soft, and highlights the vanilla with the blueberry. The bergamot’s acidic touches are subtle. No one has praised it up close like others; I get the impression of a short trail that’s noticeable when greeting someone. It’s not cloying; I recommend it to those who prefer something sweet but subtle.

I love it; I’m a big fan of vanilla combined with flowers and gourmand essences. It reminds me of other scents I can’t quite identify, but it’s not an aroma you’d say ‘I’ve never smelled before’. I feel it’s creamy and warm, as if there’s an undeclared caramel note. As it settles on the skin, I feel it’s very in the style of Carolina Herrera; I can’t recall which one specifically, but it has that vibe. Edit: Smelling it among my perfumes, I feel it’s very similar to Kriska Sonhos by Natura. That creamy, sweet, warm, and gourmand sensation.

What a surprise! It smells very much like Ilia Secreto by Natura but softer, like a junior version. It’s not a citrus opening but rather a sweet fruity one. The sweetness persists throughout, and as it dries down, the white flowers emerge with less sugar. Medium sillage and lasts 3-4 hours. It’s an EDT. I adored this gift because I love Ilia, but the original was too much for daily office wear; this is the lighter version, so it’s excellent!

I’ve smelled this before in another brand, perhaps a more expensive one, but it doesn’t smell better here. It’s a good perfume, yet too heavy; I’ll try it in winter. The first hour is cloying, but the burnt caramel becomes more bearable later. Given the price, it’s acceptable and suited for winter; I’d gift it to someone who enjoys dense scents. I insist, it’s very heavy; I wouldn’t buy it blindly even if it were on sale.

On me, it smells basically of caramel and coffee… very much in the vibe of YSL Black Opium and almost identical to Britney Spears’ Prerogative, although those notes aren’t listed. I don’t detect the listed notes and the floral doesn’t emerge. I expected a white floral with vanilla, but it’s a gourmand dry-down. It smells good, but it didn’t meet my expectations.

It’s sweet but not cloying at all. The orange blossom, vanilla, and bergamot are very noticeable. It lasts about 5-6 hours with a soft sillage. I consider it ideal for all year round and daily wear, though in summer it’s better for evenings or cooler days. It smells similar to Scandal EDP and the bottle resembles La Belle Le Parfum.

I liked it quite a bit; on me, it’s just like Givenchy’s L’Interdit. Moderate trail, lasting about 6 hours on skin, quite close to the skin; however, on clothes it lasts a bit longer. The original lasts all day. For those who can’t buy the other and want to try it, it’s an excellent alternative.

It’s not ugly, but I wouldn’t wear it. The neroli and vanilla are the most noticeable notes. That animal and talcum touch doesn’t convince me; it’s not my style. It lasts 4-5 hours clinging to the skin with little projection. For the price, you can’t ask for much more.

Exquisite fragrance, sweet and vanillaised. The citrus is very noticeable at the start, along with the neroli I love. Excellent for everyday wear.

There are so many excellent perfumes at an incredible price that one wonders why anyone would opt for a bathroom spray called Shakira…
