Angel Elixir by Mugler

This perfume is nearly impossible to find these days. I rescued it after letting it sit unused and it smells fantastic. Vanilla, sandalwood, and that ylang-ylang creaminess… It projects massively (even though my bottle has been open for two years). When I finally run out (the liquid turned wine-coloured 🙄), I don’t think I’ll be too keen on buying another. I prefer Born in Roma Intense; while not identical, it’s in the same style.

I found a 100 ml bottle at a good price, and since they no longer even have testers in perfumeries, I had to take it. It doesn’t smell exactly like Angel OG, but honestly, all the Angel scents with patchouli tend to smell similar as time goes on; with Fantasm, I’m satisfied. I love it; it reminds me of an improved version of This Is Her, which only lasts five minutes on me 😅🤭. The Elixir is more mature, less sweet, and more elegant; you can tell it’s better quality. I feel for the TIH lovers, but it lacks good longevity on some people (the men’s version is the same), plus it has a horrible bottle in my opinion. Angel Elixir has a ‘Mugler’ opening, rare and interesting; it must be that brand pepper that smells different but incredible ❤️. Then the jasmine comes out, dominating for five minutes. Soon the vanilla and sandalwood take over and last for hours, a sophisticated vanilla and a sandalwood that sometimes seems even salty. It lasts between six and seven hours and projects well, even with a new bottle. It’s suitable for all year round, except summer. I own Donna Born in Roma Intense and they don’t resemble each other: in Valentino, jasmine and benzoin (a little indolic) dominate, while in Elixir, it’s the sandalwood and vanilla. Angel by Mugler has always been controversial, so Elixir achieved it: hated by some and loved by others. Anyway, I could not be happier with my purchase ❤️🥰.

The scent is divine, but the quality is a disaster. In Argentina, by December 2025, it costs 350,000 and lasts barely three hours on the skin; it disappears as soon as you apply it, and to get any projection, you need to spray six or more times. Although the fragrance is beautiful, I feel it’s not worth it, because with all the money I’ve spent on fixes, I’d prefer something cheaper. I feel frustrated because I bought it hoping for longevity and projection. As for the aroma, I love it; it’s stunning and totally different from the classic Angel.

As they say, ‘comparisons are odious’, and comparing it to the traditional Angel makes little sense, as here we have a flanker that has nothing to do with the original. I think for those who wear Angel, it will seem very different, which doesn’t mean it smells bad. It seems very lactonic and creamy. Vanilla and sandalwood dominate, with a delicate jasmine present, like a hug; although not listed, I sense something juicy like pear or blackberry and a touch of honey. It’s gourmand. It reminds me of other perfumes, so it’s not novel; if you’re looking for something groundbreaking, it’s not for you, but if you want something pretty, this is it. I use it for everything, even daily. Recommended for over 20s and all seasons. Longevity is where it fails: it lasts four hours and then clings to the skin. For the price, there are better options. Design: 10/10, Scent: 7/10, Longevity: 4/10 (very weak). It reminds me of Dior Addict, which is a bomb, and this lacks potency; it’s brighter (for daytime) and has something of Black Opium. I say it reminds me, not that they are the same. It’s creamy, with well-mixed vanilla and sandalwood, a pleasant experience. THE BEST: it’s very wearable and easy to live with. THE WORST: it gives the sensation of having smelled it before, it doesn’t break new ground or innovate, and its short longevity (around 4-5 hours).

Angel Elixir has completely taken my head. That pink pepper opening is absolutely stunning. Then comes the jasmine, ylang-ylang, and that orange blossom I simply adore, finishing with a soft sandalwood and rich vanilla. Wow, it has made me fall in love more than my Valentino Born In Roma. The longevity is insane: you don’t smell it much, but it’s there, stuck to the skin; the next day I could still smell it on myself. It smells delicious and delightful; I already have my refill ordered.

To cut to the chase: the name has nothing to do with the original; it’s unnecessary. Is the sillage weak? Yes, that’s not its strong suit, but it lasts for hours on the skin. It’s a very well-executed floral-vanilla scent, although at Mugler it should be intergalactic. The opening is lovely with that typical fluorescent pink pepper they use, followed by sandalwood and ylang-ylang which combine perfectly. The jasmine is constant with a beautiful dark vanilla. It gave me a deja vu with Black Opium Le Parfum and I’m already hooked. If you want something potent, go for Born In Roma because they are similar, or Black Opium Le Parfum which is darker and has coffee (ask for early batches). If you like pink pepper and sandalwood, stick with this. I love it; it’s gorgeous and comes in the beautiful Angel bottle.

I love it. It’s a perfume I’ve always wanted. Angel Elixir is different from the original. I agree the name could have been something else, but the scent is enchanting. It’s a jasmine-vanilla and amber blend. The ylang-ylang isn’t too noticeable, nor is it tropical. To me, it’s elegant and delicious. After months, it has incredible potency and lasts all day. The only sad thing is it wasn’t well-loved and is no longer easy to find. If you know of anything similar, let me know.

Angel Elixir smells delicious and is different, nothing like the conventional one. The jasmine stands out with the creamy sandalwood, amber, and sweet vanilla. The blend reminds me of coconut candy, but if I concentrate, I notice jasmine, ylang-ylang, sandalwood, and amber. Incredible potency and richness.

It’s very similar to the CH classic and has a Black Opium vibe. I’m not sure exactly what the difference is. It’s sweet for autumn and winter and bears no resemblance to Angel at all. I haven’t tried the Valentino, but it’s just another perfume in the crowd, so for the price I buy cheaper alternatives.

Mugler Angel Elixir, although not among my favourites in the family, is a very interesting floral, amber and woody fragrance that offers a new perspective on the house. Although I feel it lacks a bit of the originality and identity they usually bring to their launches, it cannot be denied that it is quite attractive. Although it may not be the most innovative, Angel Elixir has its own charm and can be an excellent choice for those looking for something different within the Mugler range.

I was expecting something impactful and new, but no: it’s a little sweetie with woody and fruity touches, like so many others. Did I like it? Yes. Would I wear it? Yes. Would I buy it? No. Excessively expensive for a scent with zero originality and poor longevity (compared to Alien, for example).

It smells like fresh, living flowers; it’s impressive what they achieve with this and it receives much more success among groups of friends or girls than among couples or men. Although it sounds odd, its evolution changes according to gender: it takes a more masculine and springy route on men, but still I think the trail doesn’t compare to many other eau de parfums.

After a week of use, I’d say it could be a flanker of Alien Goddess Intense but without the coconut. It’s the same formula without coconut, same jasmine and same amber. The marked difference is that here there is sandalwood. I gave it a lot of criticism when it launched, but it’s well thought out as a commercial concept. Don’t look further: easy, smells good, pleases, doesn’t bother. Perfume for not overcomplicating things and easy to gift. It doesn’t displease me despite not innovating in the least. I think the name isn’t apt. The first Angel was the start of the gourmand family. Here we have a perfume that adapts to current times, the era of extra-sugary perfumes. It fulfils that concept but not enough to be called an elixir. It could have been called Angel Now. It passes the ‘sleeping test’ and clings very well to fabric.

I have the original and was keen to try this; it’s totally a very current and apt perfume because it’s not so invasive. It’s very sexy, seductive, sweet and elegant. I liked it more than the traditional one and I totally recommend buying it blind. What surprised me was the scarce projection and longevity… for an elixir it should have better performance.

If you like this scent, I recommend trying another one I found very similar: Valentino Born in Roma Intense. Only that the latter is truly intense, lasts longer and you can find it at a better price.
