Sunday Mood by El Ganso

Rica is a fresh, pleasant scent for summer, completely unobtrusive. It’s quite generic, but I don’t think it would offend anyone. Perfect for the office, daily wear, or heading to the gym. A real hit. The best bit: at €15 for 125ml, it’s a bad buy if you don’t like the smell.

It starts with a potent lemon note, though it sounds like something you’ve heard before. It has quality in the materials and evolves into sandalwood and cedar. I don’t detect the mint and confuse the geranium with the sandalwood at the end. The opening is very fresh, the dry down becomes woody and perhaps heavy for extreme heat, but it suits moderate climates. The €35 price is ridiculous; it lasts quite a while but sometimes you need to replenish. It’s a laid-back option, a generic cologne with a touch of quality.

A soft citrus summer scent, slightly powdery, with a herbal-green note appearing a few minutes later. At first it smells of ozone, sporty, like deodorant. Then a very shy floral note emerges. In the end, it leaves a clean woody trail with hints of citrus and pear. It’s summery, daytime, casual and without vulgarity. Not for the bold, it doesn’t project much and doesn’t bother. It has honesty, it doesn’t try to be more than it is. Perfect for a spring walk or a relaxed afternoon, but it won’t excite anyone.

I already reviewed the feminine version at a festival. My friend received this and it’s very unisex, though you can tell there’s a masculine touch. I would definitely use it. When my friend opened it in the middle of the night, we all tried it and it seemed totally unisex to me. But weeks later, smelling it in the shop, I noticed the masculine side. If it has the same sillage and longevity as the feminine version, it leaves much to be desired, but the scent is a yes, though nothing special. The price is good, so it depends on your priorities if you decide to buy it.

Very pleasant for summer, but it’s almost identical to the Mercadona Verissime Sicily on my nose, so it’s not particularly interesting to buy.

Agree with the previous reviewer: it adds nothing new, but it’s far from terrible. It’s a safe bet; I’ve been asked what I’m wearing a couple of times. It’s not a bomb, but people do notice and like it. For me, it deserves a solid pass.

Another of those perfumes that’s a bit of this, a bit of that, and a bit of something else. The kind that leaves you indifferent because you smell something you’ve heard a thousand times on the street, both in original and imitation. The opening is nice, but a few minutes later it becomes awful. Once it dries down, it improves slightly, becoming more delicate, and I can detect a pear note. However, it’s entirely dispensable and adds nothing for me. A pity that a brand with so much originality and personality in clothing has released such a generic and forgettable fragrance.
