Stetson by Coty (1981), a purely masculine classic of the 80s. Stetson embodies its era, with a very good harmonious balance between spicy clove notes supported by an animalic musk sweetened with honeyed notes of vanilla and tonka.

If you’re unsure, try Black Suede by Avon; it’s of that style. If you’re in the USA, have a look at Royal Copenhagen from Caswell Masey (I can’t quite recall the exact brand name). And if you’re interested in historic houses, Zizanie by Molinard (or was it Fragonard?). I don’t know why they named it after a cowboy hat brand, because this ‘cowboy’ thing doesn’t fit at all: horse sweat-soaked leather, smell of dung, perspiration. Right, they bathe and go out partying, but I don’t think they’d use cologne, and if they did, I don’t think it would be this. It’s a chypre, but it leans towards floral and spicy notes, something quite gourmet in the end. That is, halfway towards the masculine extreme of the spectrum.
A very classic fragrance, which I don’t think a man under 40 would want to use. A shop gave it to me as a gift when I bought another fragrance, but personally I wouldn’t dare to pay a penny for it.

Pure essence of the 80s, a blend of musk and honey that smells of sexual skin, like the scent remaining at the end of the day from what was worn in the morning.
