Safanad by Marly has a super personal vibe, the kind that doesn’t need to shout. It’s not one of those that overwhelms with a heavy trail, which is why I sometimes wish it projected a little further. But what it lacks in reach, it makes up for with an intimate closeness that feels like a hug. It’s a fragrance that envelops, yet with sweetness; it lingers close, like a well-kept secret. The blend of sandalwood and iris is addictive; that creamy, slightly powdery base makes me feel like it belongs to me. I don’t wear it for others to smell, I wear it for myself and I love it. Perhaps that’s its magic: Safanad is that olfactory caress that doesn’t seek approval, but intimacy and complicity.

Safanad by Parfums de Marly has a super personal atmosphere, of those that don’t need to shout. It’s not one with an overwhelming trail, and perhaps for that reason I would have liked more projection. But what it lacks in reach, it compensates with a comforting closeness. It’s a fragrance that envelops… but with sweetness. It stays close, like a well-kept secret. The blend of sandalwood and iris is addictive; there’s something in that creamy, powdery base that makes me feel it’s mine. I don’t wear it for others, I wear it for myself. And I love feeling it. Perhaps that’s its charm: Safanad is that olfactory caress that doesn’t seek approval, but intimacy.

I tried it quickly at a freeshop. I can’t talk much about longevity or projection as it was just one drop on my wrist, but I must say the scent reminded me a huge amount of Classique Essence by Jean Paul Gaultier. I love that version of JPG, so I immediately perceived the similarity. I’ve been wanting Safanad for a while, but as I already have two large bottles of the discontinued Classique Essence, I didn’t feel the need to spend so much on this bottle. When mine run out, I’ll probably pick it up because I love this scent 😍

I like the perfume, it has good projection and long-lasting, it’s not cloying but it needs to be used in moderation. The bottle is gorgeous and the liquid too, I love it although the price is a bit high. It’s a sweet floral but not annoying; I was worried because I don’t like florals as they give me headaches, but this one doesn’t. It has a slightly powdery base due to the iris note.

When I wear it out, it smells halfway between Poeme by Lancôme and Classique by JP Gaultier: citrusy, sweet and feminine. The problem is the price; for what it costs, I expected beastly performance, but none of the discovery kits have given me the right impression. They are rich, but overpriced. P.S. It also resembles Woman Intense by Ralph Lauren very much, although on my skin the latter performs better (it doesn’t reach 3 hours, but it’s more than Safanad gives).

It smells a huge amount like J’Adore. It’s floral, soft and elegant with a fruity opening. But on my skin, J’Adore wins in longevity, sillage and distinction. Scent 7/10, Longevity 6/10, Sillage 6/10, Value for money 4/10, Versatility 8/10, Packaging 8/10. Would I buy again? No.
