The first thing that impresses is the sophisticated packaging; the case looks like a museum box for a precious jewel. The bottle is very heavy, like a solid chunk of gold, truly collectible. The fragrance recalls the brand’s sweet notes, but the opening is distinct: sweet coffee and tonka bean contrast with mint and lavender, creating unexpected chords that are surprising. As it dries down, the woody notes take centre stage with sensual patchouli. The longevity is exceptional; even after a shower, it lingers for hours. It is distinctive, rare, and sensual.
It’s exactly the same as the regular A Men, just housed in a heavy, gold metal case. Mine is from January 2012 and, although I suspect it may have been tampered with, it is nowhere near as watered down as the current version. Initially, it smells strongly of tar and mint, but it gradually softens and sweetens. Once it settles, the patchouli and coffee with a hint of caramel take over. I know the excessive sweetness might shock some people, but I absolutely love it. The longevity and projection are top-notch; three sprays and you’ll be noticed. Just be careful not to overdo it. Ideal for very cold climates, and although it’s marketed as a men’s fragrance, it wouldn’t look out of place on a woman.
If they’d added basil, it would have been much closer to Yanbal’s Osadía for men.
