14 ml of pure magic. Rasasi has surpassed themselves with a high-quality oil that smells like a blend of amber (labdanum, sandalwood, aldehydes, vanilla, etc.), roses, and oud. It’s an oriental tale, strong and soft at the same time, very velvety. It’s not vulgar or common. Beneath its apparent simplicity lie complex layers… A few drops are enough; the green stone of the bottle deceives: it’s not green, but sweet and warm. Powerful, without cloying sugar, no fruit, and no cheap alcohol. Just amber, flowers, and oud in oil. For me, it’s up to the level of special editions of French perfumes at astronomical prices. Arabs have been perfuming for over 3,000 years and until recently I was unaware of their creations; now I open myself to a great range of possibilities. Contrary to expectations, it starts weak and then builds up body until its zenith before descending. In this magic pot of roses, amber, and spices (saffron and cinnamon?), all components are together, linear and well-blended. One doesn’t start and another end. It will be one of my favourites. Highly recommended for lovers of Chanel Vintage; not advised for fans of uncomplicated fresh scents. I give it a 10. With this perfume and Shalimar, I feel like the very Sherezade herself.

  • At first, the rose is very present alongside a strong load of amber and some undeclared note of resin or labdanum, giving a balsamic component that adds a pleasant effervescent effect, almost feminine but without exaggeration. That balsamic touch fades until it disappears, and then the rose stands out clearer, accompanied by musk and amber, gaining a less feminine and more rough, talc-like perspective. This part is the one that lasts longest on my skin. Then, the rose loses strength but never disappears, remaining as a delicate floral sigh; there, the oud begins to be perceived. It’s not the typical rough, dirty, or medicinal oud, but a sweet, warm, and spicy woody note. Along with the amber and a hint of musk, it transforms the scent into a woody amber with a very pleasant floral aura. It’s comforting and I’ve loved it. It has parts that touch on the feminine but don’t surpass them. I see it as very versatile, neither strong nor invasive, suitable for formal or informal situations. Preferably daytime and for warm or temperate climates. Oil perfume with excellent longevity, surpassing 8 hours. Its trail is more contained, as is typical in oils, but it doesn’t disappoint.

  • An oil that shines on its own, with no comparables. I’ve been struggling with roses for ages, but this is a beauty. Surrounded by a warm amber, it’s subtly attacked with labdanum and musk; I even think there’s tonka bean, giving it a fresh, balsamic, and woody nuance that relaxes me so much I want to wear it everywhere. When the oudh comes out, it’s not overwhelming, but gives the amber a woody, spicy touch, with hints of cinnamon or clove that make it insensibly sensual, turning this crush into eternal love. I don’t think amber and oud are the dominant notes as the name suggests; they’re so delicate and wrapped in roses, musk, resins, and spices that they form a compact scent where all count. It’s sweet but not cloying thanks to the woods and spices. Unisex, to share or enjoy alone. It has good potency and lasts about 7 hours. It’s versatile for everything, except very hot summer; I’d wear it always, but I think it will be my bed perfume for that relaxing sensation. I’m surprised it doesn’t have lavender… It goes straight to my wishlist. I’m going to try the others Darkbeat sent me, because I fear I might like them more. It won’t be my ruin; at these prices, anyone can afford it. 14 ml, small but mighty; it has me trapped and I have no intention of leaving its clutches.

This pure essence is an incredible delight. Being almost 100% essence, its longevity is unbeatable, though the projection is more contained; I might try diluting it 50/50 with grain oil, though I fear it might lose its magic and the notes could change. It’s unisex, but that delicate oud gives it a masculine touch that suits a man better. For me, amber is the star, of supreme quality and utterly synthetic-free. The rose is there from start to finish, reminding me of the delicate rose in Cartier’s D’Un Soir, even better than the one in Moschino’s Toy Boy. The oud is subtle and excellent, lasting hours clinging to the skin. It’s a jewel where the assembled components mean you never tire of smelling it. It’s hard to give it a 10, but it’s close. I hope you discover it as I did, by accident, and I have no regrets about paying double the internet price; I’d buy it again without hesitation.
