ANGHAM by the Oriental house OMAN LUXURY. An extremely sophisticated perfume, not for everyone. I find it more masculine than feminine, although it is unisex and leans towards the male gender, yet it looks great on a woman. At first, I detect the clove and saffron, very sharp. The apple and citrus notes are more subtle, although those who look for them will find them. After 2-3 minutes, the sharpness becomes drier and rougher. I detect incense, something I have appreciated all my life. The geranium is there, inevitable. In the dry-down, it’s rich: incense, woods, ambergris softened by sandalwood which sweetens and mellows everything. It has good longevity, lasting 6-7 hours on hot days and over 8 hours on cooler ones. People who have smelled it usually don’t like it because they detect the incense, but that’s how it is. If you don’t dig deeper, you stay at the banal; you have to unravel it and glorify it, something it deserves. After using a 10ml decant and buying the bottle, I say it costs its weight in gold, but it’s worth it if you like this type of fragrance and can find it, not necessarily at its RRP.

  • If I had to define it in one word, it’s intoxicating. Don’t be put off by the leather, as it is the star. It has many facets and nuances: a spicy note blending with a reddish-green apple, soft incense and floral touches. All of this creates a very enjoyable, pleasant and wearable leather. In the dry-down, it smells of very subtle oud alongside the leather. Good performance, as is typical of Oman Luxury. It’s a fairly interesting composition.
