Brasidas
An exciting creation by Laurent Mazzone that draws you in like a siren’s song. Army of Lovers is primarily a floral musk. Lorenzo Villoresi has a chaste, sweet, and innocent musky fragrance, so Army of Lovers could be considered its perverse, dirty, and decadent sister. It is not an animal musk in itself, but a sensation created by an ingredient that generates a perception of bare skin clinging to the musk with a hint of honey, a wholly carnal feeling, like smelling skin with cinnamon tones. This entire body is adorned in an exuberant corset of fleshy roses and a brazen violet scent, darkened and sweetened by patchouli and coriander. You will wear this outfit for a couple of hours at first, but gradually you will shed it until only the musky sensation remains. It is a peculiar fragrance, certainly not to everyone’s taste, and given its prohibitive price, you must feel very drawn to it before purchasing. Personally, it reminds me a bit of the image Etat Libre d’Orange tries to convey with their ‘True Lust Rayon Violet De Ses Yeux’, especially when smelling it on blotting paper, where you can detect plastic notes lingering halfway between leather and wood; in my case, this scent disappears when worn on the skin. While I am fine with the disappearance of the synthetic smell, I do miss the leather effect. Laurent Mazzone markets it as an ‘extrait de parfum’, and despite it being powerful, it is not exaggerated, lasting between 8 and 10 hours.
