Dr.No
If you’re after a rose perfume, Boadicea is your go-to. They have countless options with rose as the star: Carbon Sapphire, Blue Sapphire, Zayed 2018, Ardent, Nebulous, Decade, and Dasman, to name a few. Bayswater is very straightforward: creamy sandalwood, a hint of nutmeg, and a slightly powdery rose. It’s refined, soft, linear, and has low projection, though the longevity is decent. It’s unisex, although women tend to wear it more. The rose and sandalwood are perfectly balanced; neither dominates nor feels light. I can’t find it on their website anymore, so it’s probably discontinued. Boadicea loves launching new scents as if they’re changing socks to see what sticks, which has always annoyed me (even though they’re my favourite houses). In ten years, they’ve released over a hundred perfumes, and many smell similar: Carbon Sapphire and Zayed 2018 are alike, as are Azrak and Jubilee. A good perfume, rich and simple. That’s all.
