Chrome Under the Pole by Azzaro is an aromatic citrus fragrance for men, launched in 2018. The top notes reveal Calabrian bergamot, lemon, rosemary, pineapple and neroli. The heart of the composition is built with cyclamen, coriander, oakmoss and jasmine. The base notes complete the structure with sandalwood, cedar, oakmoss, tonka bean, Brazilian rosewood, musk and cardamom.

First time with Azzaro: I bought this flanker of Chrome, Under de Pole, because of the price. I looked it up online and the name comes from a family who sails to beautiful or hostile places with their yacht; the brand is evident in the sponsored sails, just as it is in the packaging featuring the family and photos of divers on the box. Putting the intro aside: upon spraying, it smells fresh, herbal and spicy due to the citrus and rosemary. Then the projection drops and it clings to the body with oakmoss and sandalwood. It’s not very versatile, summery and perfect for the gym after a shower. It’s not intrusive and people tell me it smells nice, but it’s linear and a bit cliché: a fresh, herbal opening with about four hours of longevity. In short, an affordable fragrance (26.17 dollars in Argentina) for freshening up after exercise, nothing more.
First impressions: my brother wears this and I borrowed it because I couldn’t resist the bottle. It’s fresh, citrusy and herbal at first, but on the skin it becomes creamy and clean. Ideal for after a shower or for sleeping in, though it doesn’t have much sillage. For me, it’s more of a personal treat.
