I follow Master Darkbeat like the rest of the crowd. I do not dream of being his disciple; his talent is beyond reach. All I need is to enjoy his creations. I attend his talks in the Museum Square, hidden among thousands of followers. If the Master wanders through Judea, Cordoba, or Damascus, I am there in the multitude. When he preaches, I listen without daring to look; his magnanimous explanations are enough. Great masters share everything, while mere peddlers selling adulterated water hide behind empty rhetoric. Even if the Master gives you his secrets, you will not achieve his results; his olfactory instinct and intuition cannot be transferred, so my attempt would be a caricature. For my birthday I received a precious gift: a wooden box engraved with my name, Josesan, containing a small bottle of CUERO DE DARKBEAT PARFUMS in maroon satin. The damask rose opens among the tooled leather, smelling of my childhood in Cordoba and my mother’s kisses among the lilacs of Anatolia. A velvety, deep, and sensual aroma. It is like a flying carpet leading to palaces of a thousand and one nights, with incense burners, Lebanese cedar, and Pacific amber, mixed with rose and leather to elevate us to a dream. Rich in colouratura, like master sopranos. Complex, with stylised synergies. It melts into my memories and lingers on the skin, recalling past lives and kindling embers.
