Qelibar by Darkbeat Parfums

A nice scent from Darkbeat. I like the proposal and, allowing for differences, it reminds me of Bloody Smoke by L. Pazzaglia. It opens citrusy but already loaded with resins and balsamic notes, making its intentions clear. No refreshing citrus. Gradually the smoky notes emerge and there I detect the point of convergence with B. Smoke, with a metallic note floating. Afterwards, without losing the balsamic tone, it starts to turn towards the sweet, but softly. It performs and projects well. I don’t see it for heat, totally versatile.

Smells wonderful, with a soft and elegant incense. It reminds me a bit of Tom Ford’s Oud Mineral. It is a resinous and mineral fragrance with a very fine and elegant dry-down.

Another interesting proposal from Darkbeat that I have the honour of knowing. Unfortunately, like the rest of their creations, it stays within the creator’s circle of friends. Exclusivity is appreciated, but it’s a pity it doesn’t reach a wider audience and receive the recognition it deserves. Qelibar is the one I’ve liked most so far. Atypical and original architecture: a soft but full-bodied citrus-resinous opening that gives way to the guiding thread, a pleasant and wearable frankincense alongside orange blossom. I usually struggle with orange blossom, but here it is so well balanced with the frankincense that it has captivated me. The frankincense takes centre stage with vanilla and amber tones of dry sweetness, feeling smoky at times. Good longevity, around 8 hours, moderate projection. I own several frankincense perfumes and feel fortunate to add this piece to my collection.

How difficult it is to make an incense perfume without it feeling heavy. Here it is perfect. Incense with nuances throughout its development. It opens fresh with lime and a touch of incense, then the citrus fades and it moves to a woody tone where the incense predominates. It finishes sweet due to the amber, warm and super sensual, lasting over eight hours on skin. Sensual, elegant, sexy… I find it more masculine than unisex. Ideal for a night to impress. It seems like a real winner to me.

What beautiful incense! That is what I perceive most. Another work by our compatriot that deserves to be among the best. I liked it a lot. The incense evolves to become sweeter, and I notice the citrus notes more after a while than at the beginning. This perfume promises to be one of the ‘addictive’ ones. Well done.

Very well-made frankincense that has impressed me in all its phases. It begins with frankincense and elemi, resinous and citrusy but light. Then the citrus yields to woody, elegant frankincense, supported by vanilla and amber. A rounded, beautiful development. It reminds me of Málaga Santa by L. Legrand, but more elegant and without that burnt incense dessert note I dislike. A round of applause for the ‘nose’!

It begins with incense and elemi, resinous and citrusy but light. As it progresses, the citrus fades and a woody, elegant incense emerges with cedar, supported by vanilla and amber. It has a round and beautiful development. It reminds me of L. Legrand’s Málaga Santa, but it develops differently, more elegantly and with less of that burnt incense aftertaste that I dislike in the Oriza version. Applause for the ‘nose’!

I tried Qelibar by Darkbeat and what a better start! It’s a gem: amber, frankincense and vanilla that sound spectacular. Sweet without being cloying, intense yet elegant. Easy to wear, perfect for evening and unisex. Recommended for amber lovers. Scent: 10, Longevity: 9, Sillage: 7, Versatility: 8, Originality: 9, Overall: 9.5
