D600 by Carner Barcelona

In this perfume, three phases are clearly distinguished. The first, where from the start the iris is already appreciated alongside citrus notes and somewhat less pepper. The middle phase, where vetiver and cardamom appear; here my nose would smell the vetiver very clearly, perfectly balanced with the other notes. The citrus notes continue to appear but calmer alongside the iris (which never disappears) and vanilla (creamy and powdery) gains ground by giant strides. Finally, the phase where vanilla becomes the protagonist. The iris never disappears but is perceived in much lesser measure. The vetiver also becomes harder to appreciate but its nuances are still noticeable. The fragrance as a whole feels creamy and powdery (I’d say it also carries almond, although it’s not listed), slightly citrusy and with woody nuances thanks to the vetiver. I think it can be used in any climate and without problems by both men and women. The performance, without being spectacular, passes with flying colours on my skin. The longevity is excellent, but I do miss a bit more of a punch. Personally, I like this Carner perfume a lot. I’d say it’s the best of the brand among those I’ve tried (I still need to try Cuirs) and also one of the best iris-note perfumes on the current market. I, unlike many other reviews, don’t see much resemblance with the Dior Homme line. This is a more vanilla iris and thanks to the citrus something fresher, if you like to put it that way, unlike the Dior Homme, which I perceive as more chocolatey and dark. Although its price isn’t cheap at all, it’s undoubtedly a perfume I would like to have a full bottle in my collection. For now, I’ll settle for my 10 ml decant.

Performance is approved; longevity is excellent but it lacks a bit of punch. I like it a lot; I think it’s the best from Carner I have tried (I still need Cuirs) and one of the best iris fragrances on the market. Unlike other reviews, I don’t see so much similarity with Dior Homme; this is more vanilla and fresh thanks to the citrus, while the Dior Homme ones I feel are darker and chocolatey. Although it’s not cheap, I would like to have a full bottle. For now, I’m content with my 10 ml decant.

The truth is that the perfume emanates a unisex scent, more vanilla than sweet but creamy, mixed with the iris and another note I haven’t managed to understand. It’s soft and on my skin it lasts easily about ten hours. The iris note is too real and I’m fascinated by how it smells here; it’s very sensual and at the same time regal. The vetiver and cedar are perceived at the mid-life of the fragrance and it becomes more close to the skin after five hours, although on clothes it distils enough. Cardamom and jasmine are the base for me and it already feels more spiced and powdery. It projects enough to be perceived. In my case, I use it casually at night or perhaps for romantic dates. If you are interested in these floral and creamy scents, go no further than this, it will be the indicated one, guaranteed D600. This wonder is what I wear most among more than 50 options in my collection. It’s a wonderful perfume, elegant, clean, smelling of talcum powder with a citrusy touch and projecting cleanliness. It has excellent performance; they told me at the Carner boutique that it was the one with the highest production cost in the whole line due to the price of iris. People compare it with Dior Homme Intense, I understand why, but for me they are different and not redundant; in fact, I have both. This one doesn’t have the sweetness of the Dior, they are more like the classic Dior Homme. I see it as slightly more masculine and I think nowadays it’s the best clean perfume with a talcum powder scent available. It doesn’t smell like a fougere or an old-fashioned dressing room like some powdery niches; I find it very attractive and natural. Exquisite.

At first, we encounter a citrus load of bergamot and grapefruit plus a blast of black pepper that stings quite a bit at the start. Soon the iris unfolds, which here moves in a dry and very woody way, along with cardamom and a touch of jasmine. The black pepper remains present and gives a prickly and slightly smoky very interesting sensation. Finally, the deployment of vanillas and cedar wood begins. Already in the middle phase they are perceived, but it is in the final dry down where they unfold freely alongside this dry and woody iris. A very interesting and different way of perceiving iris, unisex but perhaps a little inclined towards the masculine side. My favourite from this Spanish house.

I thought it was a good perfume although, for the price it has, I get the feeling that it’s missing something. I see it as quite generic compared to others from the brand. Basically it’s an iris-centric perfume, very creamy, almost like applying a moisturising cream scented with sweet iris. It smells good and has a more or less longevity, but honestly there are much cheaper perfumes that offer much more within the same style, like the Gentleman EDP by Givenchy. Scent: 8, Longevity: 7, Sillage: 5, Value for money: 4.5, Versatility: 9, Originality: 5, Overall: 7.5.

Spectacular and beautiful opening, in some stages it reminds me of Dior Homme. It’s a good spicy iris accord that dries out woody and musky, rounded by cedar and vanilla. The balance and harmony are good, with moderate longevity and soft sillage, ideal for daytime. In cold weather it doesn’t last long and the sillage is very soft, so I recommend warm climates. Synthetic notes are noticeable as it dries, which lowers the quality. A pity. Rating: 6.

One of my collection’s favourites. It’s basically iris with vanilla, but very well done. Elegant, casual, very versatile. It radiates cleanliness and purity. In the dry down, it leaves a delicious powdery vanilla scent. 10/10.
